Error 10 is a generic "Cannot Start Device" error that the computer does not know why it didn't start. It is one that I have ran into as well, every once and awhile. So, you have go though the list of stuff that could be causing the problem. Could be your computer, another device, or possibly a poor connection of the Cable. Here is a list of potential fixes. It could be one of these items or a combination.

1. Remove any other USB devices except keyboard and mouse... USB HD's, Headsets, DVD Players... etc.

2. Unplug the Realtone cable, reseat the breakaway, and plug it back in.

3. Try a different USB port.

4. Open Device Manager, under "Sound, video, and game controllers" you should have a "Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter". Try uninstalling, disconnect your cable, reseat the breakaway again, then plug it in and let it reinstall.

5. Opend Device Manager --> Sound video... section again. At the top of the window select View --> Show Hidden Device..... Look for "USB Audio Device". Uninstall all instances of that along with all instances of the "Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter". Disconnect your cable, reseat the breakaway (make sure to use an air can and blow out the connecters), reboot your computer, then plug it in and let it reinstall.

Also, make sure you have the latest Direct X.

First of all, calm your pits. No one's impressed by your impotent internet nerd rage. The problem is your computer, not the game.

Secondly, as already pointed out Error code 10 is a generic "i don't know what's wrong" error, but it's PROBABLY due to insufficient power available on the port, or a conflict with another USB device.

In addition to what was suggested above, you can try disconnecting other USB devices, try other USB ports, and maybe even completely remove and reinstall the USB hub tree.

Go find and install the latest chipset inf for your board/chipset.

hit winkey+r, type "cmd"
type "set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1"
type "start devmgmt.msc"
click "view" then "show hidden devices"
scroll down to the bottom and remove EVERYTHING from the USB section (other USB devices may need to be manually reinstalled). Reboot
The system will find and reinstall a bunch of USB hardware.
Try plugging the cable in again.
Try a powered USB hub
make sure that you are not using a USB 3.0 port, the cable is not compatible with USB 3.0, but may work through a powered USB 2.0 hub.
