Controller Support Problem!
The store page says this game has full controller support, but my controller doesn't work with the game. I'm using a wired Xbox 360 controller, and I'm running the game on a Macbook Air.

Can anyone help me out?

I have the same problem, using a wired xbox 360 controller, running on a macbook pro
Sounds like a mac related issue. It's likely that Macs interpret Xinputs differently than window's does, and that might throw a wrench into the game's workings.

Some other basic things to go over though
1. Make sure all the correct drivers are installed, both for the controller and for your laptop.
2. Test the controller out on multiple other things. I'm not talking just steam games, try JoytoKey, emulators (like VBA, PJ64, etc.)
3. Verify your game cache.
4. Reinstall the game (super hex is small, so it's not a big step but it may make a difference)

If all that fails, then I have heard of workarounds for Windows based programs to work on mac. Might be worth looking into.

I don't really know if any of that will help, but I hope it does. Just realize that the majority of game development and testing is done on Windows OS, so ports to Mac are not likely to be entirely accurate.

It's not just xbox controllers, the dualshock 3 I'm using on my macbook pro isn't reading either. And yet it works for... literally everything else.

Hi, i had the same problem. xbox360 controller, running win 8.1 :

In control panel, check for something like "set up usb game controller" (mine is in french, sorry).
I found 2 Virtual HID devices and the actual controller. I think the others HID might have take the app's focus.

-> unplug every usb you've got and reboot.
-> replug usb devices starting by keyboard and mouse and your controller last

Hope it helped !

PS : the HID devices were my keyboard (k70 rgb, two usb needed) and it looks like because of its firmware it requires more time to be recognize by the system -> It changes the order in the usb/game devices -> game get confused.

I think this game simply doesn't have gamepad support for mac. I managed to remap my controller to the arrow keys using the steam overlay. Open Steam in big picture and select 'manage game' on the super hexagon page. Then click the 'controller options' button and from the Steam Input per game setting drop down menu select force on.
Then in the 'controller configuration menu' click browse configs. There's one config in the community tab that's pretty good.
