According to some people on this forum, you should be able to play the game on Steam Deck.

Steam deck works somehow better than my desktop. Runs at a locked 30fps at medium settings and looks great.
Meanwhile my desktop looks fantastic and runs at 80fps but after a while gets locked at 15fps for whatever reason...

It plays pretty well on steamdeck. It says unsupported due to lack of multiplayer support on deck, but that's why there's a developer note about it.

Good point. If its a green checkmark that you're looking for, you likely never will get it.
Sony is pretty dead set on forcing you to use windows for Multiplayer so they'll never be able to mark the game as "supported" even if it runs better than some actually supported games.

It literally says unsupported on the Steam store page. I’m guessing because the PSN bits need to run on Windows.

The game runs perfectly fine on steamdeck with just the issue of no Muliplayer.

So yes it is perfectly fine the devs even have a note on the page about steamdeck.

the devs say the game is optimised for Steam Deck but will always say unsupported due to the multiplayer not working due to PSN SDK needing Windows
Steam Deck support
We know many of you are eager to play Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut on handheld gaming devices like the Steam Deck. We're happy to share that the single player experience, including the Iki Island expansion, can be enjoyed on Steam Deck and similar handheld gaming PCs as we’ve worked extensively to optimize performance and deliver the best possible experience on these devices.

You may notice that Steam marks the game as 'Unsupported' for Steam Deck. This is due to the Legends co-op multiplayer mode requiring Windows to access PlayStation Network integrated features.
