Spear parry doesn't work!!!

Just tried it, no matter how many times I attack at the same time when the enemy attacks, it doesn't freaking parry it, it's the first issue I've encountered with this amazing game, but still.

I'm playing on lethal, either way, it should work.

Nevermind, just had to put points into the skill that makes parrying for spearmen work, jeez.

EDIT: For the record, you have to get both the skill to make unparriable attacks parriable -yep-, and you have to also get the one that makes it so you can auto parry the attacks from spearmen when attacking, its two abilities in two different trees, but man; I apologize for my words and deeds because when you get both abilities you can just keep mashing the heavy attack and Jin will parry everything, it's freaking amazing.

It's amazing, keeping the post up for posterity though, there's a ton of similar posts on reddit of people facing the same issue when the game launched, at first I thought the game was bugged, LUL.

I canot parry spear too. I unlocked perk for that , red attacks visualy changed to blue, but parry doesnt work.
I using parry button like against normal sword attacks, but im harmed again and again and cannot use 3rd stance against axes and spears because parry doesnt work and i have to keep long distance and caanot parry any spear attack. I have to dodge like before, on start and cannot use other fineses for short distance because parry doesnt work against blue spear attacks. The perk doesnt work and blue are exactly like red.

Do you press the pary button at the moment of the attack ? Like if you were tryiong a perfect parry ?
Blue dot attacks are not parried by keeping parry button pressed like regular attacks, you have to time the parry

Just had the same problem happen, they need to put a warning you need unyield spear parry like i got killed so many times trying to get it to work

I have unlocked the skill tree and the red has turned blue, but it is still hard to get the timing right, you have to press earlier compared to swords

it works just fine, your timing is off.
That being said, it can be a bit finicky.

I have found that despite having the skill if u use any sword style other than the first one it just doesn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ work. I've tested it so many times and I swear to god the Descriotion saying "works with any style" is false

Im not sure. I'll try it sometime. I play more better historical game now. Kingdom come Deliverance changed my life 🤣

I thought it was a bug as it suddenly stopped working for me and I always got hit by blue attacks. Then I pulled off a perfect parry, and realized what happened: I changed to the Sarugami armor for the tournament on Iki island, and forgot to change back. :) TLDR: check your gear, it might be the cause.
