What is Multiplayer in this game?

I played this game when it first came out on PS4, however I do not have a PS4 anymore and did not progress any further nor saw the release of GoTMP. So.. what is it? Is it like an arcade thing or like dueling?

There are three different games modes, all of which are pve related. The rivals game mode is the closest you'll get to dueling because you and your teammate basically have to get more kills than the other team.

--Story mode-- play with one other person and do an objective based mission usually involving going through an area with buildings and such. You can do stealth or kamakazi style.
--Survival mode-- 4 player coop. many wave of many enemy. Don't die. Many funz
Nightmare modes available for these first two modes that are much more challenging. Nightmare survival was my jam on PS4, but it WAS pretty hard and it takes a while to finish.
--Rivals mode-- as the other duder said, 2v2, kill mo than the other 2 duderz
--Tales of Iyo-- 4 player coop entailing coordinated teamwork to solve complex puzzles while often under attack, also can take a while to finish, particularly if none in your party have done them yet, but they can be finished quicker once you know how to solve the puzzles. Best to play with mics in this mode if you can. Tales of Iyo used to require a 4 player invite-only party, not sure if they changed this
