I hate Lord Shimura
Straight up hypocrite.

Consistently reminding you that your actions aren't Samurai.
As well as the people you took in as allies.

Then the next line of dialogue is him telling Jin he also has unsavory friends that he asks help of.

Dude complains you're using a Mongol weapon (to save people), yet he himself used it when you took over Kaneda.

He s needed to create dilemma in Jin, the story couldnt evolve like this without an opposite force to enforce it. a necessary evil. tho honestly every black and white bordering grays, but its a theme popular in japanese themed games. it reminds me yakuza titles. morality and honor always in question.

Sony games are pretty much known to have stories that metaphors for parenting. God of War, Last of Us....This.

Its not about what Shimurs doing, it about what it mean. Shimura is an unmovable stone mountain and Jin an unstopple stream of water. Jin is able to adapt to thr changing times, Shimura is not.
