Figured out a decent remedy to the bad controller aim acceleration
I used a ps5 controller but it should work with any. First, set in game speed to "fast"

-In steam input settings, go the your Right Stick, go to the "general" tab, change the stick response curve to relaxed.

-In steam input, go to the deadzone section. Set the deadzone source to "custom", then check "advanced deadzone options". checkmark "anti-deadzone", and turn it to like 2000-3000. That removes to deadzone in the game.

Now the acceleration only kicks in when your stick is almost all the way to the border. It feels a lot better, especially for aiming with the bow/ranged weapons. Still a bit slower than I'd like, but it's way better. I always use M/K in games but this one has the ps5 controller haptics and stuff so I spent awhile trying to make it work. Any other suggestions or improvements are welcomed.

EDIT: if this setup causes stick drift, just lower the anti-deadzone setting til it stops, OR change the deadzone buffer setting right underneath anti-deadzone to like 50

Oh yea!
This game uses Steam Input, we have full control over that stuff.

Do all the Dualsense features work with Steam Input enabled?
Nixxes has a history of half assing Steam input
(For example No Man's Sky has haptic triggers over Bluetooth, and has for awhile now, but Nixxes does not; I could write a damn essay on how dumb that is)

Best solution: uninstall.

yeah it does apparently. I think that must be a new feature, because I know in the past I couldn't use steam input without losing the ps5 haptics. But for some reason it works now with everything. I've only been using the controller wired, so I'm not sure about bluetooth.

Well that's something.

I know the controller speaker can't be done over bluetooth on pc without Sony making a proper driver (I've been through a lot using Dualshock 4's and then Dualsense on Steam and had long chats with support about Sony's ineptiitude) so I don't think we'll ever see that working over Bluetooth.

The trigger's though... When I first felt that trigger resist me after the 1 NMS update I thought my ♥♥♥♥ broke and about 2 minutes later I realized Hello Games was the first dev to make the triggers work properly over Bluetooth. Both Spider-Man games were out already and neither had the feature and still didn't months later.

I stopped using them (Dualsenses) until I can get an Edge because the normal ones suffer stick drift, I have 2 in a drawer next to me, and I have a King Kong 2 Pro for now. I miss the touchpads all the time because of all the things you can do with Steam Input.

Sorry this got long, I'm very passionate about controllers :p4g_sweat:

Hell yeah, glad it helped someone else. Spent so long searching for solutions, and messing with it I figured I should post it.

Using steam input stops the Haptics...I dont understand how its just working for other people.

You can Try just Hold R2 & Press X, I don't know why after I finished this game the focus button changed to R2 + Press X then release the X button, This Bug when Ghost of Tsushima was first released on PS4

This is such a good tip I think it could even be moved to the “guides” sections imo.

Thanks for this.
