Same here.

Happened to me once. Don’t know what causes it but I’ve been waiting for the prompt to show up before pressing it now and it hasn’t happened again.

my friend said the same thing, to avoid this only start holding the button once the game tells you too, if you press it before you will get this bug.

on the mission where you get his fathers armor that standoff was straight up bugged for me and impossible to win (i literally tried 10 times it didn't work) if you get the same bug just kill them without standoff and you can progress.

Have tried this and it doesnt always work. Sometimes youre just doomed to have the bug.

Hold the button and only release it when opponent just starts to strike.

As far as I can tell, it happens when there is some other event or input going on in the walkup cutscene.

So if you press the button too early before the prompt appears it will bug. But also simply if there is another npc or event that happens in the walkup cutscene. I've now had it bug with everything from a randomly exploding flame pot to the golden bird flying around tweeting to a friendly escort npc being in the immediate area moving around.

I think it's anything that creates some kind of input to the game during the walkup cutscene, whether from the player (which is controllable at least) pressing the button early to something that game is just doing like the bird or another npc (which is not controllable) moving around.

This issue being when you hold the button: Your character does not respond, then your opponent strikes first.

Just happened on the bridge at Haneda Castle

Also, tried to use controller and keyboard: Still nothing

This happens to me at any point if I don't limit frame rate to below 100, but then it feels input laggy.

i have this bug showing up on the first standoff everytime i start the game, doesnt matter if i hit the button before or after the prompt shows up. its ALWAYS the first standoff after booting the game. i simply started to look for patrols and die once after booting the game so it wont be TOO immersion breaking.

a fix would be appreciated though

seems like if your on a slope it doesn't like to do the standoff properly a lot of the time. or riding your horse, or doing anything half the time. causing me to rage a slight bit with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ breaking. Triple AAA my ass and how long has this game been out on playstation?

I stopped using the standoff because of this bug. I even tried using a PS5 controller
