Auto Save files are locked inside the game and cannot be loaded.

Sup guys, so i just found a temp solution for this. If you go to the save file location of the game (Documents/Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT/"Random Numbers Folder") you should see this https://imgur.com/DYBROGp, select whatever "backup_.sav" that you want to use (does that are locked in the game), and change the name to "manual_.sav". Make sure to use the correct number that follows the other "manual" files in the folder (if you have it like me with a 0000, 0001 and 0002, make sure to change that "backup_whatevernumber.sav" to "manual_0003.sav" now when you open the game you should be able to see that "new" manual save and you should be able to open it. i hope it works for you guys.

Im sorry if it is confusing, but English is not my main language, so i struggle a little bit. If somebody has an advice to make the explanation shorter, i will take it xD.

i did exactly this, the save shows up as the new "manual_0004.sav" but i am unable to load the save in game. need this fixed or i have been playing this for the past 3 days to completely restart

Я не знаю что случилось, но я поменял только один сейв из всей пачки бекапов(оказывается самый далекий), зайдя в игру названия не изменились, все эти сейвы были залочеными с замочком, но они работали!! Автор спасибо огромное!!!

Im sorry it didn't work for you dude, is the only solution I found for this and it worked for me If you wanna try, make a backup of the save files, reinstall the game and put the files back. I know it is annoying but it might work. Honestly this game needs some patches, because it still have some annoying bugs here and there. Hopefully we get this saved data problem fixed as well

For me after the update, when I launched the game it created a new number folder, so I just copied the save files from the old folder in the new one and it worked.

Same thing happened to me, and idea on how to fix it? I tried reinstalling, moving and deleting all the saves but when the game opens they all come back. I am lost.

what worked for me was, i copied my last back up save and renamed it to "auto" and then pasted back in the numbered folder and replaced the current auto save. hope that works and made sense

I do not know if this is same issue or fix but I found a solution. If using windows 11 and windows defender. Having ransomware protection on will make entire games save system not work. It is in security settings.
