Shader Compilation Upon Every Launch
Does anyone else have this issue of the game performing the shader compilation every time you start the game?

I swear I didn't have this issue yesterday until after the game crashed on me.

It's weird too. Usually, PlayStation games let me skip the startup logos by hitting the escape key but only after shader compilation has been completed. Well, since it does that on every startup, I can't skip the logos anymore after the crash.

Edit: Also, does the game have a continue button? I feel like it used to have one before the weird crash I had but now it doesn't. I have to go to "load game" to continue my previous session.

For the Continue bug, be sure to have a manual save of your main playthrough. Then start a new game and go through the beggining until Jin is hit by the arrows. Once that scene ends, quit, load your game back up and the continue option should be there.

The shader comp, as Bilbo said is changing your Shader Cache in the Global Settings section of Manage 3D Settings on the Nvidia Contol Panel. Load into game, quit, change back.

Does not happen to me, compiled the first time I started playing it, but never any other time I launch it, mind you, within the Nvidia control panel, I have the shader cache size set to unlimited.

I tried many things but the shader compilation issue was finally resolved when I uninstalled and re-downloaded the game.

That’s so weird man, I have 4090 and 7800x3d and I’m having this issue. Same thing happened to me with Horizon FW. I have unlimited shaders on too

Seems like it's Nvidia's fault, I updated my drivers and started happening, got into the control panel for Nvidia and switched Shader Cache from default to 5GB allocation, GoT stopped compiling on every launch.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
