Lack of a mini map or markers
I understand what they were going for with the wind thing. However, I do wish they had an option to simply use a mini map. Or at the very least, have a marker on screen. Perhaps I'm just not used to the mechanic yet. But I'm not a fan of using the wind to guide me. Aside from that nitpick, I'm enjoying the game so far.

It might take some time to get used to, coming from other open-world games with more distinct objectives. Just give it some more time and it'll become second nature. I honestly really like it, it's a clever way of integrating the objectives into the game without taking up unnecessary screen space or bloating the screen with icons.

One thing that helped me a lot with it is even without swiping the touch pad to see a wind gust, wherever is marked for you to go to, all of the subtle things like pollen and ashes, the grass moving, literally anything that's naturally always blowing in the wind also guides you in the right direction. So you don't always have to keep forcing the wind gust so many times to see which way to go/make sure you're going in the right direction.. The winds are constantly blowing.

"Use your eyes, explore, feel, and stop to be assisted in everything".

That's exacly the message of the game. The game design, the level design and the (fantastic) work of the UI/UX give you everything you need to know.

It's not Assassin ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Creed.

Damn, I didn’t even think about that part. I was under the impression that the foliage and stuff swayed independently of the objective and would only do otherwise if you manually blew the wind. Awesome attention to detail, now that you’ve pointed it out

As someone that lives and breaths map markers that lead me exactly where I need to go - I can tell you Ghost of Tsuhima is by FAR the best open world game I've ever seen thay naturally directs you to where you need to go.
NATURE guides you. Wind, birds, foxes... At any moment in time SOMETHING will guide you to a collectible or an objective. Sight or sound, sometimes both.
I really freaking love this about this game.

I never liked minimaps to begin with. The compass which Bethesda have used for a very long time which found its way into ex AC & Horizon is a much better compromise if the devs dont want to go 100% no-hud. All games dont need to do that, have no problems with games that do that (like Metro & this). The gps-map is just the worst though

I appreciate all of the feedback. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. My suggestion was merely a thought. And you guys are right. The markers would detract from the beauty of the world.

Same here.. I don't mind the idea. But I'm a guy who likes to go through roads and paths.. and the gust of wind only tells the direction. Many times the roads will diverge and stuff and you don't even know about it coz the map is also in fog.
I can't feel immersed this way. I don't mind if you don't mark the spot in the map but atleast i should be able to see where the road leads.
Coz otherwise it just takes too much time.
It's just a me problem but i really think they should atleast give the option to enable these things.. like keep it off by default so people try it without it but if someone really doesn't like it then they should be able to change it.

I thought lack of map markers (and the world design it requires) was one of the biggest features of this game. They managed to design a world managed to 100% complete without guides or markers or "spidey sense" that is impossible to play without.
