Yasuke was in Japan only 1 year

As a Japanese person, I’ve waited for AC to adapt a Japanese story, so I can play an epic story of a SAMURAI in Japan.
Now in current year, we don’t get a samurai but a forced diversity character that’s not a samurai, OR Japanese.
For context; the real historical Yasuke met Nobunaga for a year, then was sold back to the Jesuits and never obtained a rank as a samurai.


There is no way an African man learned the way of Bushido and Way of Sword within one year, The noble japanese keep him only because his dark skin which is very interest japanese at that time.

99.99% of the population in that historical period were Japanese
Ubisoft decided to take advantage of the fact that a black person had once arrived there and create a black samurai who was not actually a samurai

he doesn't even speak japanese

Samurai would take 5-8 years to train, and Nobunaka only have Yasuke as exotic slave.
He wasn’t a warrior, he just carry sword for his master as a slave, he has no intention to fight and die for Japanese in Japan land. He has nothing to do with samurai or honor to be a samurai.

that's just lies and misinformation. They already altering wikipedia and creating this narrative of a mighty legendary afro samurai in sengoku period.
The moment netflix tried to rewrite history with the cleopatra show (and how bbc has done it with other shows etc) i knew it was something dangerous. it's not a matter of "itS juST fAnTasYy NP" that's how it starts, then in few years they alter history and make their own fanfics as proof, reality and "facts".

And there is a japanese protaganist in the game, and speaking of game this is not a documentary which has a fictional story & with fictional history with made-up organisations as it is. The series has also ALWAYS taken huge liberties with historical characters right from the start in every entry.
Is it the best choice imo? Definetly not, but it's also not the end of the world.

Just the new upcoming mediocre Assassins Creed game centered on Japan, one of the most requested by the fans may i add, only to have a black guy as the main character, instead of a Japanese character.

Yasuke did existed, but he wasnt a samurai, just a retainer.

This is more baffling when all previous AC games had the protagonist be from the region the game took in, but the moment the setting is on Japan, they dont use a Japanese character, and everyone knows exactly why they choose Yasuke.

Btw its even more dumb with the hair they gave to Yasuke, which is just generic modern "black hair" i wonder how much they resisted to not give him the Killmonger hair (this freaking hairstyle needs to be outlaw for at least 5 years...)

the game maybe fun, ill buy it and play it. but the icing on the cake will be when this woke version of ancient japan tanks in the country it is supposedly paying homage to. Ive been in japan a long time, there is little hope that this will be well received and will simply prove to be a bad fantasy for those who want the identity. it will be a bother for those of us who live here and have to deal with more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tourists asking for where all the diversity is.

I read the majority of the link, its proof lies in the usage of one word about paying a stipend to samurai and simply that it is a specialized word. the fact is that in japan specialized words are used without full emphasis of the intended meaning very often in order to make the other party feel as if they are getting treated the way they should. its commonplace and done to keep harmony. so while i dont have phd research to back it, i have two decades of living here as my back up.
