YASUKE WASN'T A SAMURAI
Yasuke was in Japan only 1 year

As a Japanese person, I’ve waited for AC to adapt a Japanese story, so I can play an epic story of a SAMURAI in Japan.
Now in current year, we don’t get a samurai but a forced diversity character that’s not a samurai, OR Japanese.
For context; the real historical Yasuke met Nobunaga for a year, then was sold back to the Jesuits and never obtained a rank as a samurai.

There is no way an African man learned the way of Bushido and Way of Sword within one year, The noble japanese keep him only because his dark skin which is very interest japanese at that time.

99.99% of the population in that historical period were Japanese
Ubisoft decided to take advantage of the fact that a black person had once arrived there and create a black samurai who was not actually a samurai

he doesn't even speak japanese

Samurai would take 5-8 years to train, and Nobunaka only have Yasuke as exotic slave.
He wasn’t a warrior, he just carry sword for his master as a slave, he has no intention to fight and die for Japanese in Japan land. He has nothing to do with samurai or honor to be a samurai.

He was a retainer. That's it. He was not a Samurai, period.
Pure fiction.
"Retainers" (Kashin) literally were samurai. Try again.
Wrong. Not all retainers were Samurai. He certainly was not. Especially under Nobunaga. Lol. Try again.

Reporting this bs post because its stupid and mildly racist. Regardless if your Japanese or not (highly doubt) You don't know anything about history it sounds like either.

I feel like if you're defending this, you are in fact the racist.

In other news, progressives continue to gaslight Asians (yes, I am one and no, I'm not conservative) about their own representation.

Edit: If you're okay with RE5 though, I have no issue with your stance. Just remain consistent. The problem is, outlets like IGN are celebrating Shadows, while they just wrote an article 2 months ago about RE5 is racist. The hypocrisy is insane.

The one source we have doesn't say Yasuke was made kashin. This is just a leap from Yasuke was a retainer --> kashin is a kind of retainer --> therefore Yasuke is a kind of a Samurai.

It's definitely a mistake in my opinion. It's also a bit disrespectful, considering there should at a minimum be an Asian male option for the player. Mainly because this is the first game set in an Asian setting for Assassins Creed.

Why isn't the asian female enough?

Are you out of drama to be upset about? Need the next fix for your drama addiction? Is there nothing else to be upset about? Wrong forum, wait for AC to release then go ahead and Troll on the AC Forums.

Don't much care what he was. Assassin's Creed games have had a history of creating a main protagonist who has major a connection to the land. A rational person would assume that if you're creating a game in Japan, your first ever one by the way, you'd choose one of the tales from that region involving someone who represents the vast majority of the population of said region for that said time period. It would have been just weird if instead of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad roaming through the Middle East in 1191 in AC1 we had Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Yeah Ezio in the middle east would have been weird. Unless he traveled there, from AC2 on a mission or whatever
Assassins Creed ended on Black Flag

that would be insane. Imagine if they also made a game where an old Ezio went to the middle east?

They could call it: "Assassins Creed: Disclosures"

If you're asking this question in good faith, it's because Asian male and female representation in the west are incredibly different. The men are represented as emasculated and sidelined even in their own cultures (like here), the women are represented as hypersexualized objects.

Breaking those stereotypes do nothing for each other. Good Asian female representation doesn't do a lot for male representation, and vice versa. Hence, both are needed.

Here, a western development studio chose to sideline Asian men in their OWN LAND from a studio with a history of basically no East Asian male representation, they are disallowed to be representatives of their own culture and history. It's insanely disrespectful and frankly racist.

Is it possible that Yasuke is Oda Nobunaga's secret lover?

Also for all long-time AC-fans, we can always start quoting conversations between Desmond & Vidic from AC1 how his experience does not match what the history-books tells him. Quite interesting for the subject.

I mean...it's possible...he had a lot of gay lovers

not uncommon for powerful men of his time, anywhere actually.
