i found reason why. its only works if you press it right when it appear. not before not after. not holding it before it appearr. moment you see pic saying you hold and it works 100% of time . anytime u press before or after game basically saying you failed it

I can personally tell you from experience (in the PS5 version, at least) that pre-holding the button won't work, it has to be initiated only AFTER the prompt shows up.

same goes for pc i tested myself many times . its the game mech. i think its made this way. the game just doesnt tell you fail until you get hit. it might not be a bug and yet people report it happens to them even with press on time. who knows tbh. dev never adressed it at least based on fact this issue since 2020

Cant progress, any workarounds?

*Edit, just reset til it works. Took 4 times for me to get it to respond.

*Edit2: Email from Nixxes:

''Right now, we suspect this might be a bug caused by high frame rates.

Can you try setting your game to run in exclusive fullscreen and your refresh rate to 60hz? Both of these settings are in the Display Options section.

Please let us know if that serves as a viable workaround as we continue to investigate the issue on our end.''

Not a ''viable'' workaround imo, but might be worth a try if you really want.

Can confirm this is a viable workaround for now.
There is a bug right now with high frame rates that causes the standoff prompt to not work correctly.
Edit: I can confirm that, at least for me, at locked 60Hz, the button works whenever you press it. I was playing at a locked 72fps, and it only worked for the tutorial.
Make sure the game is still in exclusive full screen when you test it.

Nope, Exclusive fullscreen and refresh to 60 did nothing for me :/

I just started playing the game and was having an issue with standoffs not working. There's another post in here saying that accessibility options mess up stand-offs, but not exactly which one. I turned off simplified controls and toggle button holds and I got the standoff prompt. I'll try to narrow down which one it is exactly as I play and edit this post. "

I am still getting buged:/

Let you know if that did it for me.
It seems the person in that quote was not getting the quick time prompt at all. The issue I was addressing was when folks would have the prompt, but pressing the button displayed would not do anything. This was happening to me every time outside of the tutorial at 72fps locked.
I just ran around finding soldiers to test it at 60Hz, and ever singe encounter it worked no matter how late I pressed the button.

This bug persist since PS4...

I'm testing it out right now with monitor in normal refresh mode (160Hz) with borderless window non-exclusive full screen and 60fps locked through the driver, and so far the standoff has worked correctly every time. You just have to play @60FPS

The only thing that I've found that works consistantly enough to let me use Showdowns is to stop as soon as I see the Showdown prompt. Literally stop. Don't touch anything for a second. And then hit the showdown button.

It's worked on like the last 6 showdowns which is better than the 75% chance of it glitching I was running into before.
