One solution to this is playing the game in HDR if your monitor supports it. And tweaking both HDR Max Luminance and HDR Paper White to what your monitor can handle. The max luminance (nits) setting will affect things like sunlight and moonlight.
Another solution on top of any HDR adjustments is to set the actual Brightness setting to 70 and above, and enhance any loss of color vibrance by setting Contrast to "dramatic". This will make shadow effects more easy on the eyes.
This can be slightly further improved by playing around with the Ambient Occlusion setting. Both SSAO and HBAO+ tend to apply more shadows around the edges of objects. XeGTAO will counter this a bit while still looking amazing. Adjusting Screen Space Shadows will also help.
I have an Rx6650xt running on 24.5.1 and an AMD cpu ryzen 5 5600x . The game restarted my pc , the game have some graphical glitches and it crashes every time on stream.

Looks like we may have our solution. I'm going to try this out later tonight.
tbh they aint so new at this point but price difference really seperates them from others.
I mean...that's a pretty broad sweep to assume you know what every gamer on this forum has for their setup, friend...
So when its dark, specially indoors, you really need to up your brightness to see anything.
They can excuse realism, but its just does not look good, specially if you cant see anything to appreciate them visuals. A torch or a lantern would have been appreciated so you can light up them dark spots.
In photo mode, you up that exposure bias everytime to have a good looking shot.
I guess they are still new at this and would improve this as they go. Maybe they will implement it in Tsushima 2.
Doesn't help that most internal light sources basically emit no real luminescence (I know it's set in like 1270-1280, but still, at least let the candles and torches emit light in dark areas at the very least guys)
Did get a little bit better when I calibrated my monitor correctly (Did it incorrectly via Windows tool last time, accidentally set the black point too low) but some areas are just too dark to see anything useful.
Like, I honestly like games not having forced lighting on models (Even though some random, uninteractable objects in this game DO have lighting for... some strange reason) but at least give us some sort of either character item to light up dark areas (And no, explosive arrows do NOT count to this, although that does work surprisingly well) or have the candles/torches light more then a 10cm area around them lol
