Really dark and hard to see even on max brightness?
Is anyone else running into this? I've got my monitors on max, the game on max, everything, and it's super difficult to see during the opening, even during the daytime training sequence.

HDR ? i assume so as very few would not be running HDR nowadays.

i found it only a little too dark, upped the brightness to 60 and seemed about perfect for me.
on a oled lg c1.
Seen many more posts with ppl having a similar experience. was the same on ps4.

Sounds like it is way worse for u. may be a gamma or hdmi level (limited/full) issue. GL man

I've played alot of games and i never needed to up the brightness in any of them. There is just something off. I tried to up brightness but everything above 70 makes the horizon look like ass. No HDR btw.

basicly pitch black till you get the camera right n light bounces around in that narrow crack in wall or door

Hopefully if it's not something the devs offer a fix or change for, perhaps the modding community will make something.

No HDR here. I had to bump the brightness up to 70 and that fixed it for me. Was just too dark at 50 even 60 at night and even sometimes during the day depending on the area I was in.

EDITED: Had to for a second time bump the brightness now to 90 and switch contrast to dramatic, since it was still a little too dark when I was inside a house. now at least I can finally see inside a house at night so I am happy,

HDR on and default 50 is way too dark. 80 looks better.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried all the fixes and nothing works, it's still very dark.

You might want to try a small program called VideoEqualizer.
You can adjust the entire gamma curve per monitor.
Through simple sliders or 11-81 points if you only want to up the darker parts.

Increase brightness to 100 and then enable Dramatic contrast.

Increase gamma in your graphics control app. It will keep the darkest (0) and brightest (255) pixels the same, but will change the curve the way which will boost brightness of the pixels closer to the dakest.

I'm quite sure Torches was invented in the 13th century. So that doesn't exist in the game or what? (that we can use) I'm new on this game that's why i'm asking

Dramatic contrast is pretty good combating that washed out look you get from uping the brightness. Play around with these two settings.

I found that Windows HDR Calibration from the MS store was pretty good in dialling the HDR settings on my displays
