Japanese lip sync
Will this be fixed in the near future? I really like the japanese voiceover but it feels really odd to play with it as the mouth animations dont match

Funny enough the Director's Cut marketed "proper Japanese lip sync" as one of the features when it came out on PS5. It looks better than the pre-update version, but it is still very poor lip syncing. I would not expect it to be fixed, as it's been like this since launch of the DC on PS5.

Does it not have Japanese lip sync? The store page has it listed as a feature. I haven't bought/played the game yet though.

begining felt way out of sync but bit later it got better I would say, its not perfect but acceptable

Nope, that's the first thing I wanted to do since I never really tried it on console but it's just the English lip sync

It is not the English lip sync. It is different, but the mouth movements are just "open when noise, close when not". But it's not the same as the English lip sync.

Doesn't it? I thought it does.

It definitely doesn't have it in the beginning, some guy in another thread mentioned the lip sync is there outside the intro, but I haven't tested it. I switched to English due to another issue and I've been enjoying it that way so far. It's clearly a primary dub and it's done pretty well.

I've tested the same scenes going back and forth between Japanese and English (I started the game in Japanese, if that matters), past the intro. I'm where you first search the house for your sword and the Mongol comes in. It's English lip sync in both on mine. Maybe some are getting Japanese and and some are getting English due to a glitch.

See, this is where I disagree. I just watched the same scene back to back English and Japanese, and it had the same sync for both languages. It matched English. But again, maybe it's also just a glitch that it's not triggering on some systems.

honestly it is a western game and it is better in english. the jp vo is just off generally imo, not just the lips. it feels badly acted.

My understanding is that pre-rendered cutscenes keep the English Lip Sync, while the in-engine scenes do their best to simulate Japanese. This is because the whole game and lip syncing was done in English, so the Japanese one is some tech they used to simulate it. They can't do this in pre-rendered cutscenes (like the very first one) so you'll notice that they're still speaking english... Not something I'm holding out for them to fix, honestly... They've had ample opportunity since the game came out originally... Maybe something they can do in a hypothetical sequel

I just did the same and can very clearly tell the difference between the lips. Maybe you just don't notice it, but it is very clearly different. There are videos online showing the difference, since this game has been out for years already.

The first cutscene is NOT prerendered. You can very clearly tell when it switches to a prerendered cutscene, because it's used for scene transitions (like when Jin first gets his sword, it's very clearly prerendered and artifacted, then switches to in-game)
