The screenshots on the store page look so bad lol like just the most basic colours possible with zero textures. Looks weird af, I was about to ask if this was the art style of the game or if it just looks that bad.

Yeah it looks very underwhelming, almost PS3 era, when you aren't in a grassy field.

Well at least you can get into the game, mine just crashes on boot

It's a 4 year old game that was made for 11 year old hardware that was already outdated in 2013. The game isn't supposed to look super realistic, either.

Yes, I noticed this too. Fire flickers, looks 2D in some cases DOOM 3D from the 90s has a better fire than this game.

Hopefully they can improve that later on! :)

It's weird though as the cut scenes for when he's young look great but the others look crap

Not only has progress slowed considerably in this department, many modern games actually look worse than stuff that was releasing in 2015, give or take. There are videos all over youtube showcasing this.

They did a really good job of giving it the illusion of looking good, but when you actually examine it close up, yea it doesn't look very good at all, minus the facial detail maybe. It's fine though, it was made for a console, and typically console exclusives have to use a lot of resource saving techniques or come up with a unique art style to make their games look and run good.

Thus far my only issue with the visuals is that some of the cut scenes at 21:9 have black bars at the top and bottom. Outside of that, it seems pretty good to me.

the graphics are actually the only thing holding me off from buying this. after having played horizon forbidden west this is a no go. i cant believe this looks as bad (outdated) as it does. like something from 2012

Yep, looks like early PS4 era

No it's not just you, when you look at stuff like fire, props, flags/banners, stones and the like it's all really really low texture/mesh quality and ugly.

It still looks like a PS4 game, they didn't really remaster anything at all.

I'm not that far into the game yet, so i don't know how open world it is and how long but at least the combat mechanics seem decent so idk.

I'm having fun with it but it doesn't blow me out of the water either.

They did nail the music and atmoshpere though.

It's the downside of being a PC gamer and being spoiled graphics wise. I bet this game is gonna run great on steam deck, especially with FSR.

The deck is basically a portable PS4 anyways.
