Game hitching every 10-30 seconds
As title says game is hitching every 10-30 seconds. No pc compeonet is running max or overheating. Its also causing all other programs to slow down in the background which is strange since nothing is running at 100%.

System Specs
5800X3D PBO2 and CO -30 (4.45Ghz)
MSI Suprim X RTX 4090
Game installed on a M2 850x 4TB (drive is not overheating either)
32GB ddr4 CL16 memory
2560x1440p

Honestly no idea why this is happening I also installed newest Nvidia driver. Horizon forbidden west runs with not 1 issue. However this game is making my system run very slow without even maxing out anything. Like serious i fps limited the game to 100fps. So gpu is only going from 50-80%. cpu is hovering around 50% as well. Any idea anyone? I'm also not the only one of my family members has a 7950X3D and 4090 with same issues.

Yup having the same problem, cant do anything really, its freezing every few seconds. Real frustrating when your fighting. It was fine for the intro but as soon as I got into the open world it started acting up.

I have no more hitching now at all even on autosaving, i disabled DLSS and frame generation, disabled Discord and Nvidia overlays, and turned off HDR.

I also reinstalled the latest Nvidia driver completely, not Express Installation but custom installation through the Nvidia app, although i don't think this had anything to do with it.

I hope this helps some people.

Turn down settings to high except for textures and level of detail and ambient oclusion set to SSAO high.

Having the same issue.

Same here.. For some reason my PC and game has MICRO freeze every 20 sec or so. Reinstall of GPU driver RTX 3070 helped for about 1H then freezes are back. Any solution? CPU ryzen AMD Ryzen 5 3600. When freezes start whole PC is slow/ has micro freezes

I have this exact same issue. Can't find any causes. All of my temps are fine, and nothing is being pushed to 100% usage. I had no issues before this game.

Specs:
7800X3D
64GB RAM
4090
Installed on an NVMe

Any chance these issues are caused by a memory leak? If everyone is having low temps and getting issues after a certain period of game play while also running background apps, it could be a memory leak issue.

I thought this at first, but my memory usage remains very stable throughout playing the game, and closing the game frees up the ram that was in use. Windows continues to suffer micro freezing until i restart the pc, so i'm not certain it's that. I'm no expert though, so i could be wrong, and it's just not showing in resource monitor. My best guess is that it's conflicting with some 3rd party dll, or specific driver file, as not everyone is having this issue.

Same here. The game ran fine for about an hour but then it started hitching every few minutes and now my whole PC behaves the same, even if I exit the game.

And no, this is not memory leak behavior. I've experienced those in the past and that pattern does not show here.

In the end, I've narrowed it down to literally nothing. I got nothing...no idea. I know there's a conflict between the game and something, but the "what" is most likely "above my pay grade". I am well within any and every single parameter needed to run this game, my PC is more than decent, constantly monitored for anything suspicious at all times and always taken care of overall in terms of every single aspect.

Not to mention that aside from this annoying hitching, the game runs perfectly smooth. So what the hell? Again, no idea...

I doubt we'll be solving this one on our own, so I think it's best to just wait for some patches and updates.

Prologue was perfectly fine (1440p, 144 FPS + DLSS), but now freezes of 1-2 seconds every 30 seconds or so.
Also if it happens during a Stand off, it breaks the entire thing and you stand there like a sack of potatos.

thats because of your 13900k the 13900k and 14900k are rampant with issues right now you might want to enforce power limits in your BIOS or reduce the CPU Ratio to 53x there has been known issues with games like this which use shader building and oodle decrompression crashes

I'm on a 5800x and i'm having the same problem, it's not CPU related, stop spreading misinformation.

Just read in another thread that someone had issues, moved game to C drive, stuttering fixed.
Apopololo May 16, 2024 @ 3:50pm
Game is hitching every 10 - 30s for me too.

7800x3D
RTX 3080 Ti 12gb
32gb Ram DDR5 CL30
2560x1440p
Game installed on a NVME M2 SN850

It's interesting, as i can visibly see the animations freezing on wallpaper engine on my 3440x1440 monitor, but my 2nd monitor that's 1920x1080 is perfectly fine, even though the hanging is still happening when trying to open a browser on the 2nd monitor. It might have something to do with the ultrawide issues the ps5 had, and it's made its way into the port? But as someone said, guess we'll just have to keep our ear to the ground (or eyes on the screen?) and wait for some fixes.

It's a shame, cause when the game isn't doing this, i'm at a stable 180-190fps. Not using DLSS, but i am using framegen, and DLAA.

I’m also facing same problem with a 7950x3d and a 4090
