Mouse and keyboard is amazing in elden ring. I'll give you an example. You know how Dodge is on button release instead of button press for controller? On PC you can map Dodge to scroll wheel up or down, and when you do it the Dodge is instant. That alone made me switch to mouse&keyboard
Well, you're answering the question with a question. Would that really be considered an answer?
That being said, although I was using controller for Elden Ring on the first playthrough, the second playthrough on mouse and keyboard was completely fine. No issues, in fact it was way nicer seeing as I could mod keybindings.
My main difficulty is with the taskbar on my monitor popping up, and I'd REALLY like to deactivate my Windows key while the game is playing. Any suggestions?
Block - dodge - toggle aim - sneak - special attack - throw items - have all those moved to mouse - super smooth and easy to use.
Yes...hitting Windows instead of ALT. I'll try remapping my mouse buttons if I can figure out how. I did remap E to F, since after thousands of hours in Cyberpunk using F for Function is pretty much instinctive for me now.
My mouse isn't that complex...and I'd rather not have to learn a whole lot of new ways of playing. It's all good.
But I highly recommend trying to play mouse (thumb)buttons. You assign them like any other key, just press them when you're in the menu for it. If you want to remove an already assigned key, then go into the keymapping menu and instead of pressing (...) to map hit Backspace. This will remove the assigned key. (UI doesnt show this option, probably bug)
You can remove keybindings with backspace. It doesn't tell it anywhere, i just stumbled onto it by luck
After an hour of messing around with regedit, MS Powertoys and etc. I found a little program called WinKill that gives you a TaskBar widget to easily switch your WIN key on and off. Brilliant!
The two side buttons on my mouse are already assigned to other functions. I will try to soldier on without them.
Now if I could just figure out how to disable my task bar from popping up, I'll be a happy player.
You can set it up like the batman games and it plays fine. The port is okay, rebinding is available, but its a lil' jank. There are some recommended settings on YT and on reddit that people are using.
Attack on Mouse Left
Block on Mouse Right
Heavy on Mouse 4
Aim on Mouse 5
Heal on Mouse Special Button
Works like a champ for me. Good luck!
I think this man gets exactly 0 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
