Can't start New Game? [SOLVED]

I preloaded the game, I unpacked it right at launch time. I went to play the game, was told to sign into PSN and was greeted with an error, telling me servers unavailable. Hit the X to just play the game.

I selected new game, hit yes and then nothing happened. I've sat at this screen for a while, expecting the game to start but it never did. Game never froze, only lagged on the sign in screen. I meet the recommended requirements to play the game. Anyone else have this issue?

EASY FIX:
Quick fix I found.

Close out the game --> open Windows Defender --> click Virus & Threat Protection --> under Virus & Threat Protection Settings, select Manage Settings --> scroll down until you see Controlled Folder Access --> select Manage Controlled Folder Access --> click Allow An App Through Controlled Folder Access --> you might have to scroll to the top for some reason, but click Add An Allowed App --> now click Recently Blocked Apps --> click the Plus Sign next to Ghost of Tsushima --> Relaunch the game and you should be able to play it now.

Is it just a black screen or does it just refuse to go past the menu after clicking? If it's the black screen make sure you have the frame gen thing ticked off, that apparently in general is just a mess and already fixed a few players problems but if it's not going past the menu then try verifying your files.

I can press new game as often as I like but nothing happens

Same thing happened to me. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it didn't work. I also adjusted my graphic settings, but still haven't found a fix.

Same. I click on New Game. It asks me to confirm I want to start a new game. I confirm. And then it just brings me back to the menu screen. So annoying!

Disable "Controlled Folder Access" in your Windows Protection History

@sanosuke1861 I didn't notice the windows popup for blocked access. It is probably that. Updated and will try again. Strange that it actually happens when trying to select new game after loading the game. Usually this happens when trying to start the game.
