Im not going to change my setting for one game. I will wait a few days for a fix, if not just refund until it gets figured out.
I did read somewhere that changing it to compatibility mode by right clicking on the exe works. For me Ill just wait, bc this game made my PC freak out lol
I tried everything suggested in the settings menu but nothing works.
If these devs think I'm going to gimp my CPU performance by enabling default in BIOS then that is the lamest excuse for a bad port i have ever heard in my life. I have stress tested the hell out of this PC (139000kF + 4090) and i works flawlessly in literally ever other game/program for over 18 months now.
Funny thing is the exact same thing happened to Horizon Zero Dawn that i also just bought.
Refunded both games. Might buy in the future if they sort this mess out.
Then behold.
Dog, but hole.
was able to pass the crashes by going propreties on the exe, compatability set to windows 8 and admin right ...
Yea just like everyone else is saying its almost definitely an intel CPU. Everything in modern computing is heavily abstracted so if you are literally getting a BSOD it's at best only half the developers fault but lets be honest its the hardware in this case.
Win 11 is nothing to do with it, runs perfect on Win 11
How about you actually optimize your game for these CPUs? I can play any other with zero problems. Way to put the blame on the customer.

I had same problem at first.
Here's how I fixed it.
If you already disabled the launcher start from step 1 otherwise start from step 3
1. Goto Documents Folder and delete the game save folder
2. Perform File Integrity check in Steam library
3. Launch game and at launcher menu turn off all
- Upscale method
- Anti-aliasing
- Frame generation
4. This should let you get pass the Sony logo and other splash screen
5. In the game menu you can turn all the features you want back on
Another thing I noticed causing black screen crash and system rebooting itself is CPU clock speed.
I normally run my system at 5.7GHz and the game cannot start.
When I turned it down to 5.5Ghz with Intel Xtreme Tuner and the game runs fine.
When running the with DLAA only it runs at 69-70 FPS. (I didn't bother trying DLSS)
With Nvidia Frame Generation on the game runs at 134-138 FPS
You might need to tweak with Applications Settings for Ghost of Tsushima inside Nvidia control panel if your screen is tearing since with Frame Generation on you will not be able to turn Vsync on in the game.
Here's the items I set specific for this game
- FPS limit (few frame below your monitor refresh rate)
- Low latency: On
- Vsync: On
Hope this can help you get around it and enjoy IMO a really good game.
I have close to the same set up
14900k
4090
96gb ddr5
3440x1440 res
but w10
vsync off, monitor support 144
My CPU is still @5.7 (not locked) with a slight undervolt through XTU. What worked for me was just using compatibility (W8) mode.
