going Sub or Dub?
Are you guys gonna play it with the English VO or the Japanese VO? I'm more of a sub person but I don't wanna miss out how beautiful this game is by constantly looking at the bottom of the screen.

Imagine the Shogun show but every samurai speaks like some dude from texas.

Sub, all the way.

You'd have to have a 2 digit IQ not to play it - a japanese game on a japanese settings about japanese warriors dealing with japanese quarrels - w/ japanese voiceover.

You are so wrong it is not even funny. Almost all of thew English cast is of Japanese decent with many speaking Japanese. The english version is the actual actors doing both the voice AND mocap/facial tracking etc. They are all veteran stage/film actors and the english GoT is vastly superior to the Japanese voice over, which uses anime voice actors. The english version is the superior version in every way.

Horses for courses here. I’ve played with both the English and Japanese dub and personally I prefer the Japanese. English dubs tend to be kind of meh, and while this is one of the rare good ones; for me I just find the Japanese dub to be more thematic and fitting

lol at steam for claiming a name is a bad word hahaha

To be honest, I'll play it in English. When Sekiro came out, people were telling me that it was better acted in Japanese and the English translation was awful.

I don't understand Japanese and I can't tell if a Japanese actor is good or not, because to me it's just gibberish (no offense intended). But I checked the English subs with Japanese voice. IT'S LITERALLY THE SAME SUBS AT THE ENGLISH ONES, LIKE DUH! so people are just full of it. They don't know what the hell they are talking about. If the translation sucks, and the English voice over sucks, I'm certain that means the Japanese version sucks just as bad because the publishers didn't care enough to put any effort into it.

If the game is fun and the story sucks, I'll just ignore the story and play the game, just like I did with Wo Long.

The story is actually good here though lol.

The Director's Cut on the PS5 had the Japanese lip-sync, they ported that version for the PC.
It would be perfect!
Both are really good. I think it depends on what you want.
The English voices are dramatic and fit more in events as they were written around that.
The Japanese voices are sort of tv drama like and has that theatrical vibe. But that's my opinion from playing on the ps4.
I usually play the english voices over the japanese dub but I always switch around.

i do know that english was the original languege and it lacked lipsync in japanese, i would play in english first then japanese when i can relax and have better handle on how the game plays.
Pretty sure they added corrected Japanese lip-sync with the release of the Director's cut and someone mentioned that the lipsync would be rendered on our PC with this PC release.

Just like with anime, I got that ADHD and Dyslexia stopping me from using sub. I would not absorb any of the information otherwise.

I really feel like people who prefer the Japanese are avid Anime fans who watch a lot of stuff in Japanese already, they are accustomed to it. But, I personally do not like subtitles. I play all my games with subtitles off, if it has the option.

Personally, I don't like the super high pitched female voices for everything. I don't like the constant vocal harrumphs. It's just as annoying to me as hearing YTers say "bruh" repeatedly. This isn't how people act in real life.

Japanese always, i tried with the english dub for about 30 seconds before i changed my mind, it is that bad.

For Americans and other countries that has no respect for other languages, it's not difficult to imagine what they will play with, i'm sorry to say but you lot will be missing out if you're not playing with Japanese and english subs, is how the game is meant to be played really.

As for myself i have stayed in Japan for a couple of months, so i do understand the basics which will come in handy when playing, when i played on the PS4 i was still living in Europe and didn't understand a single word, had to use subs.

Also i really recommend trying the Kurosawa mode on a second playthrough, if you love old samurai movies like Yojimbo this really adds a lot of immersion, felt like i was playing as a protagonist in one of those movies.

The english version is literally the real actors doing the voices and mocap etc. The Japanese version is vastly inferior being done by anime voice artists essentially.

Sure, keep telling yourself that, it sucks to be limited one language, i can imagine.
Full Japanese for me. 100%.
I think i'll have to play with the Japanese voices, will make it a lot more immersive.

Dub. Always the Dub. And yeah it has japanese lip-syncing mentioned right on the store page.

Edit: Quoted from store page; "Japanese lip sync – enjoy a more authentic experience with lip sync for Japanese voiceover, made possible by cinematics being rendered in real time by your PC."

Fair enough. I don't like how women usually sound butch in dubs and that the dialogue often doesn't flow, like the conversations aren't natural and don't sound like people talking because they had to use specific words to match the lip syncs.

But I'll be honest I probably miss at least 30% of the information presented in subs the first time through a game or movie lol.

It's not much of a limit if you speak the language that a vast amount people in the world use for both trade and entertainment. It's one thing to grow up in a country that doesn't speak English, and then be regularly subjected to it via music, video games, etc. It's another thing to be born in the middle of a region where 90% of people ONLY speak English and most forms of media are in your native tongue and you are rarely ever subjected to different languages. I've been to 13 different countries and knowing a second language was never a necessity.
