Horses for courses here. I’ve played with both the English and Japanese dub and personally I prefer the Japanese. English dubs tend to be kind of meh, and while this is one of the rare good ones; for me I just find the Japanese dub to be more thematic and fitting
lol at steam for claiming a name is a bad word hahaha
I don't understand Japanese and I can't tell if a Japanese actor is good or not, because to me it's just gibberish (no offense intended). But I checked the English subs with Japanese voice. IT'S LITERALLY THE SAME SUBS AT THE ENGLISH ONES, LIKE DUH! so people are just full of it. They don't know what the hell they are talking about. If the translation sucks, and the English voice over sucks, I'm certain that means the Japanese version sucks just as bad because the publishers didn't care enough to put any effort into it.
If the game is fun and the story sucks, I'll just ignore the story and play the game, just like I did with Wo Long.
The English voices are dramatic and fit more in events as they were written around that.
The Japanese voices are sort of tv drama like and has that theatrical vibe. But that's my opinion from playing on the ps4.
I usually play the english voices over the japanese dub but I always switch around.
Personally, I don't like the super high pitched female voices for everything. I don't like the constant vocal harrumphs. It's just as annoying to me as hearing YTers say "bruh" repeatedly. This isn't how people act in real life.
Sure, keep telling yourself that, it sucks to be limited one language, i can imagine.
Edit: Quoted from store page; "Japanese lip sync – enjoy a more authentic experience with lip sync for Japanese voiceover, made possible by cinematics being rendered in real time by your PC."
Fair enough. I don't like how women usually sound butch in dubs and that the dialogue often doesn't flow, like the conversations aren't natural and don't sound like people talking because they had to use specific words to match the lip syncs.
But I'll be honest I probably miss at least 30% of the information presented in subs the first time through a game or movie lol.
It's not much of a limit if you speak the language that a vast amount people in the world use for both trade and entertainment. It's one thing to grow up in a country that doesn't speak English, and then be regularly subjected to it via music, video games, etc. It's another thing to be born in the middle of a region where 90% of people ONLY speak English and most forms of media are in your native tongue and you are rarely ever subjected to different languages. I've been to 13 different countries and knowing a second language was never a necessity.
