Does porting games to pc cost money? If so that could be one of the reasons. And also any way to make more money, is never a stupid thing.

If they were smart they'd use cross platform engine.

Can you tell me what's a cross platform engine, and give some examples of cross platform engines?

I think what they mean is developing the PS and PC versions of a game at the same time, instead of developing for PS only and then worrying about PC later.

That would be impractical. These exclusives make their console business work.
Sure, a PS5 on its own presents great bang for buck, compared to a PC that's built to deliver the same performance, but it just wouldn't be enough for their periodic quota.

There's also the fact that developing a game for consoles is 10 times easier, just because you don't have to worry that much about optimization.

The choices are:

1. Finish the game for the consoles and release it when it's ready (let's say 2 years development time), then optimize it for PC, which takes another one year.
2. Develop the game for every single platform, while bringing it at the very same standard and release everything at once in 3 years.

PC development would drag the consoles down.
It's the same amount of work, only the first option ensures a more steady flow of revenue, and the studio doesn't have to starve towards the finish line.

I know I sound like a console fanboy, but I do game on both PS5 and on a high end PC.

Well, probably being a near 10/10 game kinda helps it retain its value lol. That and it still looks and plays better than AAA games being released even just this month.
