the main story is only playable as a male character, the multyplayer mode lets you choose if male or female

Don't be sexist, THEY (cold data=bits) don't have gender but a type body (usually A or B) so if you identify THEM as her it will be a female FOR YOU. As for me it's a cat with body type A.
And if you want a plu-binary character then mod it with a female body which will be voiced with a deep-hollow male dub. It's a win-win.

This game is on PC now. Wait for a couple of weeks/months and modders will have a ton of things you want to add in soon. Check nexusmods/loverslab

You can only play as Sakai in the main story. However the multiplayer mode, legends, has a class that is female.
I'm sure if you wait a while though, people will put out female Sakai mods.
