[Spoiler Alert] About a certain point of the story.
Before you read, know it might spoil a bit for ya.

Alright, won't name when, but in a certain mission, you will get captured.
I just wanna say, it stupid.

I don't know why games keep doing this, why do they capture the main character, and instead of killing him or maybe cutting of his hands. They keep him alive, as a prisoner.

I mean, I have probably killed hundreds of this guy soldiers, and he just decides to keep me alive, and kill some random dude that I of course feel pity for, but was warned countless times to not follow.

I care for him as much as I do any innocent person, but come on now, instead of cutting his head off. WHAT ABOUT MINE?

In any case, how do yall feel about it?
Do you guys enjoy being captured, told the whole "Master plan" and then kept alive as a prisoner in a somewhat escapable situation?

Khotan Khan probably didn't want a martyr, and wanted to use Jin for his purpose. And apart from that it's called "plot necessity" :)

true, at that point the op is talking about jin is already THE Ghost, a legend a myth, if the khan kills him it would most likely create a martyr that everyone in tsushima except the samurais look up to, but the random blacksmith no one will bat an eye
Another point is jin is the leader of his clan, the khan and any king or general in history knows that you can't control a large population without the "Enforcers" or VIPs and if jin and other clans turns to the mongols they would be able to control the island and create a supply line to attack japan later on so i guess that would be his line of thinking that's why he left your uncle alive for so long until you save him in the castle
You can kill hundreds of soldiers and still lose the war but getting a clan chief to turn to your side? that's a huge hit to the forces and moral of the island

In a realistic setting, Khan would just murder Jin and be done with it. Since this is a story, the main character needs to reach a low point to push them forward with more resolve to eventually take down the antagonist.

It's part of the "hero's journey" in storytelling, and all good stories have them. It also makes you, the player/viewer/reader hate the villain more because of it, so when Jin finally does bring down Khan, it feels even sweeter.
