Normally when someone is massively outspoken and straight-up bigoted against a certain group of people, companies take great pains to avoid that person like the plague, since they would become associated with the person's insane and controversial ramblings.

It doesn't matter that Ishii is only a voice actress - Sony's still supporting her despite her activism and Twitter posts clearly calling the police "white supremacists" and supporting body mutilation, tainting Sony's image and the products her voice is in.

Heck, Sucker Punch (owned by Sony) tweeted "We are thrilled that Atsu is played by the amazing Erika Ishii!" on 24 Sep, which is not a good look for SP or Sony.

..There's also several writers and some producers that came into the project in the 'last minute'. it's not just the voice actor; most probably to scrap all the original Jin Sakai's sequel into this new 'modern audience' version. ( yikes! )

Some senior devs also left Sucker Punch.. : (

Seriously mate, it'd take all of 10 seconds to look up her resume.

She was the voice of Valkyrie in Apex legends among many other games. None of which a single complaint was made.

The fixation on GoY being 'woke' is based purely on the voice actor - particularly since every other attempt to paint GoY badly has been shown to be made-up nonsense.

I felt the sequel was so clearly set up for a sequel. I hope Yotei is good, but I am still disappointed Jin's story is going to go unresolved. The first game ended with him accepting being the ghost and the shogun going to begin hunting him down. That isn't a finished story. If they dont finish his arch using flashbacks on Ghost of Yotei then yes that could be the case.

The video doesn't have a smoking gun proving with certainty GoY was supposed to be GoT2.

The new SP hires do make me worried as none of the people have any reputation thats worth anything but it only matters whether the GoY is actually is good or not.

And personally I like the premise of GoY and I prefer the idea (so far) of GoY over getting a GoT2, to me Jin's story was basically over. He was finished with his character journey by becoming the Ghost, and its not like Jin would actually fight against the Shogun actively since he care about his people and I'm not too interested in fighting another Mongol invasion compared to exploring Hokkaido.

Also I much prefer getting more Jin via Mythic tales, getting the mythic version of Jin would be so much cooler I think.

We all know that the graphics and gameplay - the game in general - will be absolutely amazing. I mean this is Sucker Punch we're talking about. the video doesnt 100% prove anything yes. but it does raise some red flags and recognizable patterns repeated in dozens of other studios and projects over the past years. that's why people ( at least the ones that have some sense ) are cautious.

I don't necessarily disagree with you here. but I dont think Jin's story was over. the first game was basically the 'birth of the ghost' or the 'birth of the myth'. his sequel could be something like 'feudal japan Arkham Knight Batman' going full force against the villains ( that would adapt against him ) and now the police aswell ( shogun and other samurai ). It would also be a political influence battle between them. because whether they like it or not. the ghost and his allies were the only force that were able to deal with the enemy. the samurai code was obsolete against them.

But if they do decide that his arch ended in the first game and instead we get larger than life mythical Jin tales. I can be cool with that too.
