The latest patches seem to have made this worse from my personal experience and from what i read here on steam.
There is no need to shield the devs from valid criticism, while it's a pretty good port when it works, it definitely needs some more fixing.

Not defending anyone. I'm on 556.12 and have zero crashes.
Don't know his CPU, but maybe he is using a 13th or 14th gen?

After 4 times crashing hard I removed GeForce Experience +556.12 and installed prevous driver 555.99 again and the game works fine....
(I9 13900K+4090+32GB Kingston Fury 6400Mhz)
When there is driver issue for NVIDIA, ppl blame the game.
Great mindset!
A new driver causing an old game to crash is the fault of the driver not the game. Roll back to a previous version
And in the future don't upgrade your GPU driver unless you have a reason such as a new game that needs Game Ready Drivers or a bug in a game that got fixed. I'm still on the 552.44 Tsushima Game Ready drivers because there is no good reason for me to upgrade and I likely won't upgrade again until Star Wars Outlaws releases late next month
If it ain't broke then don't try to fix it, if a driver is working fine there is no reason to upgrade it and lots of reasons not to like it breaking one of your games

For bugcheck/BSOD (PC crashes and reboots/blue screen of death):

If you are able to capture a complete crash dmp file, please email it to us at driverfeedback@nvidia.com. Thank you.
Please add me. A lot of people in other games have problems already. (Once Human, The First Descendant). Some guy made in First Descendant dump logs and he told community about nvidia driver problem.
I will quote him:
"After multiple checks and repairs, I think I found the problem.
During the TFD gameplay for around 10-30 minutes my computer will freeze up and audio as well then goes into black screen or BSOD, using WinDgb to identify the problem from minidump created from BSOD.
Here's the analysed debug result:
SYMBOL_NAME: nvlddmkm+fe2aa
MODULE_NAME: nvlddmkm
IMAGE_NAME: nvlddmkm.sys
STACK_COMMAND: .cxr; .ecxr ; kb
BUCKET_ID_FUNC_OFFSET: fe2aa
FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: 0x133_ISR_nvlddmkm!unknown_function (freezing issue)
All of this points back to my Nvidia GPU, from my POV the hardware is fine. So the issue is the latest Nvidia Driver Version (556.12) Release Date: Thu Jun 27, 2024.
So for any of you that installed the latest driver version and experienced freezing issue, I recommend to revert back previous version or do a clean-install graphic driver. It's recommended to do clean-install because of the old version driver might left some corrupted files behind and messed it up.
I did a clean-install gpu drive for my computer and installed:
Driver Version: 555.85 - Release Date: Tue May 21, 2024
since then I have played 8 hours straight with no issue, hopefully Nvidia fix it.
Heres some guide to use DDU to clean-install your GPU driver and best of luck Descendant!"
