Is Ghost of Tsushima a Ubisoft formula open-world game?
I like how this game looks. I like the samurai and Japanese theme. However, I worry that this will feel too much like an AC game. Ac valhalla tired me out on the open world games. I really prefer open world games like Elden Ring now. I'm annoyed by the Ubisoft formula.

Should I pay/play Ghost of Tsushima? Is it different from Ubisoft games?

is's better than ubisoft games in many ways, but open-world side-quest is same formula indeed.
map checkpoint burnout is real, I had this game for years on PS and never finished because it gets too repetitive.
It's fine if you don't do side content though. Combat is fun, especially duels with mini-bosses.

What does "yes it is" and "yes" mean? The title is "Is <this game> a Ubisoft formula open-world game." The last question the OP asks is "Is it different from Ubisoft games?"

So what is it "yes" to? Those questions contradict each other. Is it yes it's just like a Ubisoft open world game or is it yes to it being different from Ubisoft games?

IS the open world formula a lot like Ubisoft's way of doing it?

edit: Seems post above me answers it.

That's what it looks like to me. Main game play loop appears to be an open world Ubisoft like experience, but I hear it has a good narrative, which Sony is rather known for,

For the most part, yes. Especially if you prefer going stealthy. But why go that route when open combat is satisfying AF? I play the game mainly for the combat. Not the 'borrowed' AC elements.

its like an ubisoft progression with eldenring / breath of the wild exploration. What I mean by that is very visual things happening around the map (smoke signals, foxes grabbing your attention to follow them etc.), that grab your attention far off in the distance over map markers. It actually works very well and the story is wonderful. As far as the actual gameplay, base captures and all of that very similar to Ubisoft. Combat is alot more slow pace and takes a bit of thinking int he beginning.

hell no, it is its own formula
Yes, but also no. The world feels less empty than recent AC games.

actually i fell asleep many times, The environment was awesome, and there are only 4 enemy archtypes, swordmen shields, spears and brutes, thats it, the only difference is how they looked like mongols and robbers and so on, the actual story was decent the rest of the sidestories was a huge snoozefest. You literally spend most of your time riding across from one point to another on your horse more than anything and the environment itself has no secret to discover and mostly very unengaging.
It gets boring pretty quick since you do the same thing over and over like an ubisoft game with those 4 architype as you travel the land. Again this was when the game came out on the PS when but I gritted hard to finish it because I wanted to get to the end and was kinda meh. At least the combat is fun though, until you do it about maybe 200+ times lol. Played it on the hardest difficulty also.

Elden Ring was way more fun and challenging.

One thing i heard often about this game was that it was Assassin's Creed done right.

Never played AC, but i can say that GoT is good.
