Learn how to correctly pronounce Tsushima

I listened to far too many Western gaming “journalists” mispronounce Tsushima. No reason you should be as ignorant as they are.

The correct way to pronounce it is Sushi-Mah, and NOT Sue-SHEE-Mah, which is the way they’ve been mispronouncing it for years.

Also true. Practice and repeated exposure are the key to proper enunciation of unfamiliar words, native tongue or not.

True. And there is also word of mouth to consider as well, where the incorrect pronunciation is spread faster before anyone can notice.

Not everyone will hear the difference between「つしま」and「つうしいま」

The developers are American not Japanese.

You've been bamboozled if someone told you that a Japanese dev of the game pronounced it like that. The T isn't silent.

Generally speaking, Japanese words emphasise the first syllable of a multi-syllable word.

So.. TSU-shima. HIRO-shima, etc.

Can't change people accents and expect them to pronounce things the way you believe they should be said even if it is correct. Like the saying You say tomato I say tomato, neither way of saying it is wrong just accents and dialects leave certain pronunciations not possible for all because of the area they lived in..
