Pre-load vs Download Day 1
Hi all,

I wanna get your thoughts on Pre-loading the game vs downloading on day 1. I have already pre-ordered the game. However considering how the last game took so long to unpack after pre-loading it a day sooner, I feel it is better off downloading day 1. From what I read, with pre-loading, Steam has to decrypt all the pre-loaded files and that takes long depending on CPU and SSD. Right?
So help me decide between the two.
Thanks in advance!

why would you wait for 1-day launch ? if you can pre-load then pre-load .... unless you are still in the Pentium 1 days then ...... pray to silicone Jesus

Because pre loading means you have to wait about 3 hours for the game to unpack vs the 20 minutes it takes to download it upon launch, do it and find out, i will start downloading at the same time you start unpacking and we will see which one gets to play first, little experiment, i know the outcome though haha.
Not everyone has fast internet access.

My unpacking typically takes a couple minutes at the most so I preload.

i think i will preload, although the download speed is way faster for me during mornings there is no guarantee that it will be that and downloading 75gb takes a long time in sub 10mb/s speeds (it's usually that but sometimes my 5g connection kicks in and the download speed goes to 30mb/s). i am going to trust that decrypting the game files takes about an hour or so on my SSD which is enough time for me to do some groceries for the weekend.

i just realized the release will be in the evening in my timezone i will be pre-loading it regardless.

Yeah, I think I'm just going to do the day 1 download and not mess with the decryption step. The download should hopefully just be as fast on day one as it is now...hopefully.

cause preload requires decryption which can take longer than the download on release day
