Will you play with English or Japanese voice acting?
On one hand, the game takes place in Japan so Japanese makes more sense. But on the other hand, the game was made in English, so seeing lips out of sync with Japanese voice acting will look incongruous...

EDIT: Tried both; decided Japanese sounds better but the facial expressions just don't match the voice, while English just sounds awkward

Both. English for the first play-through, and then again in Kurosawa mode (with Japanese).
If it would be a movie, 100% Japanese. But playing and reading at the same time isn't very engaging when you constantly have to draw your eyes at the bottom of the screen.

Besides, the English dub was still performed by Japanese voice actors.
Japanese voice over, English text
english because I don't understand japanese... makes no sense listening to people speak forever without understanding them

English of course anybody playing on Japanese and isn't japanese is 100% mentally ill in my opinion. :Yonah:

Yes, you're right. It's mentally ill to play with Japanese dubbing, with a Japanese protagonist, in feudal Japan set on Japanese land. Yes, your point of view is not at all egocentric and devoid of any logic. The sick ones are the others. Not you. XD

You mean English I assume. That's the game's original recording language so lips are synced to English

They added Japanese lip syncing for the PS5 version.

I had a Steam avatar for about 8 years of a drawing of Jon Snow chopping off Janos Slynt's head. This above comment was noticed seen by a moderator and they deleted it + banned me from changing my avatar for 7 days lol. Hundreds of comments/posts on Steam over the last 8 years, and only now a moderator had a problem.

Please press F for this tragedy.
Since I've been learning Japanese, I'm going to play it in Japanese.
I've played it in Japanese on PS4 and, I think I will do it again. They are just way too good. Plus the MC is voiced by Hijikata from Gintama and it's easily one of my favorite anime of all time.

I knew I've heard him somewhere
Japanese as its set in Japan.

If I was playing a game set in China I would listen to it in Mandarin.
In Russia then Russian, etc.
The Japanese voice acting is good eh and the lip sync isn't an issue for me because I have to read the subtitles.
A big problem is that the game is motion captured with the English voice actor, so it looks really weird when Jin is yelling in Japanese, but his face remains stiff looking like he’s mumbling.

Japanese voiceover uses your hardware to sync the lips, it doesn't use a pre rendered cutscene like on the PS4/5.
