Where are the men?
Been playing the game for awhile now and every single time i start a mission it ends up being a boss girl. Is this just the history at the time with the men all dieing during the first battle or is it some thing else?

I think woke complaints are typically pretty idiotic (often outright ill-informed), but I did also notice the rather unusual number of female core characters in the story/DLC compared to men, especially in a samurai theme'd world. I ignored it at first but it eventually becomes a bit overly blatant. Not a big deal but it is a tad immersion breaking since it is done in such an unnatural manner.

At least they make the different women pretty bad ass or competent though, and varied.

Yes, according to recorded history most samurais on the island died in the first battle. Men left were not battle-trained or unwilling to fight a battle that were massively outnumbered.

There are a ton more than just those two in the game, though, in a period where women typically weren't at the forefront in status. These women are also exceptionally competent in ways they would normally not be permitted to grow/learn.

There is Yuna and Masako as you point out, but also...

Tomoe, Eagle, Fune, Sugi, Kaede, Lady Sanjo, Yama, the female samurai in mission For Tsushima who was supposed to train the people, and probably more as I'm still not done with the game.

Many of these characters are also substantially more capable than virtually any of the men in the story, and not just one or two of them.

If this had been another world like Forspoken it would have made sense, but not in this one where it is based on an actual historical premise and is trying to not take liberty (granted the story constantly contradicts and collapses on itself in hypocrisy and inconsistencies).

The only normal woman character with a significant role is the Sakai housemaid, but she's old and have to die after a short while.

So 2 main characters, 5 support. And this is somehow wierd.

Plus there were plenty of female warriors in Japan. They were used as archers and their primary weapon was the naginata.

So no, let take off the tin foil hats. Lets stop acting like the women in this game are running through people and undermining Jin.

Wait until you play the DLC, it only gets more noticeable.

LMAO, you know, just admit that this game is written by western libtard weebs who didn't have any real respect at portraying other cultures and history authentically.

Knowing it was western I expected some, but it certainly exceeds what I expected. it's too bad, the game is quite a lot of fun, and the story seems to be written well so far. but there are many immersion breaking moments. other than all the female warriors, another point I dislike is the way ''Lord'' Sakai is treated. regular NPCs seem to have some respect, but many of the cast of main character and side treat him like a ''bro''.

There is a monk companion and a archer, as well as your uncle. Later on you'll see other companions who join you on story missions that are male. The Mongol Khan, your main baddie in the game, is male. Taka, your blacksmith is also a male.

Sorry for the double post, but thinking on what I've completed thus far (I'm in the North right now) There are only 4 main females in the game, one of which was thrust into the position if you complete all her 9 side quests. The other is on Iki Island, which I have yet to touch. The other is basically the main baddie in the archer's side and she has a bit of a twisted tale of how she came to be. Then there is Yuna... Yeah, well I'm not going to spoil her reason for doing the things she does.

None of them are really boss lady, " I don't need no man" type character. They all seem to have been thrust into the role via tragedy
