When to play DLC island?
Hey guys I just finished doing first island - whatever was it's name - and I see some DLC missions appeared right on entrance to second island.
Is it better to play it now or after completing main storyline?

it depends really

you unlock a bunch of abilities, cosmetics and a incredible armor set that you can use everywhere after

but the DLC island has story spoilers in it, which means that the average players would have the best time just completing the game, then doing the DLC island, then going into new game plus, unless you really don't care about the story and rather have the unlocks you get there.

Doesn't really matter. I've finished the DLC after the first island Izuhara. But you can't go back to Tsushima unless you finish the DLC.

either, if they wanted you to play it after storyline they would have made it accessible only then - your choice.
It's recommended to play it after main storyline. Enemies at Iki Island can be ruthless and harder to kill unless you have upgraded your Ghost weapons and abilities.

on the Ps4 I usually get the Sakai Armor, one of the starter quests after unlocking second area and then do the DLC, the enemy damage on IKI is a little over-tuned imo so you might wanna wait even longer. but also my favorite sword "The Stonecutter" is there so I kinda have to rush it.

I would recommend to do it towards the end of ACT 2

Just do not - it does not worth your time, developers were out of wind after main game that already had very bad Act 3...

Worth considering, the DLC story assumes you have played through the main story and WILL spoil the story for you if you haven't. The devs really messed up not giving you a warning in advance.

Also, there's an audio bug currently that can be considered game breaking., that's mostly prevalent in the DLC.

the dlc never spoils the story, the part where he claims to have killed the Khan was a bluff.

There are MULTIPLE things that happen in the dlc that do not make sense chronologically, and are straight up spoilers.

It's best to play the DLC after completing the main game.

not true on being unable to go back. After the first major mission and you link up with the raiders you can fast travel back to Tsushima at any time.
I went there, got the horse armor and it's benefits and went back.

It absolutely spoils a number of things.
You'll even run into characters from tsushima that will mention things from the main story that won't have happened yet if you haven't completed it. Most notably the sleazy merchant guy I forget the name of atm.
Nor will it make sense they ran from Tsushima and are on Iki already if you hadn't finished their story lines yet.

Thank you Bryan. I had this same question these days. In my case I will do what you said.

the thing is, DO MORE OF SIDE QUESTS / missions first, so that gives u bonus, unlocks of gear things n leveling up ur gear too, more technique points to unlock ur other abilities plus on iki island there's bunch of stuff need to cover up like for example "back STORY of you with ur father when u were with him when u were young" all that plus those statutes thing u do plus those playing flute side quests give u extra things, saddle unlocks for skins for urself nd ur horse, unlocks for ur horse too, then more of LEGENDS story side missions which appear in dark blue icons .. I do more of side things first so that while playing main missions ur gear built up / legend build up wud be on higher level n u wud kill enemies easily nd with more unlockables nd its upgrades ..

wat I did was watever the area on map is unlocked, i actually explore every bits n inch of any area nd island thing, so that u can actually unlock lots of side things like those ARROWS firing things side quest, then on tushima, those collecting saddles flags, cutting bamboos, collecting those RECORDS ROLLS from everywhere, sit in PEACE THING ND REFLECT THINGS, HOT BATH QUESTS, even finding legend story teller nd all that side things unlocked on map everywhere so that it helps later on to just "FAST TRAVEL" from anywhere like for example I can fast travel between ikki to tushima main land any time, for any missions :) so its just wat I DO when i play open world games..
hope it helps u guys, also ofcourse its gona take time for things to unlock so u gotta have some patience, this aint RUN n GUN GAME..

lol that MERCHANT GUY "TENJI" is also on ikki island, long story lol wat a goof
