Is it better to use a controller?
I'm trying to get stuff mapped to my mouse (G502) but the game just keeps adding more stuff. I hate having to use my pinky to hit stuff like LCTRL. I just unlocked katanas and now I have incorporate more keybinds for that. Is it better to use a controller for a game like this? I do have a ps4 one or and xbox

I would recommend using gamepad. Everything is super easy using gamepad in this game.

only u can decide that.

i myself prefer controller for the convenience.

Movement -> Controller

Buttons and aiming -> MKB

I choose movement in 3rd person melee based games

Even DCS can be played on controller if you are good at mapping the thing.

I preferred controller until I bought the same mouse as you.. I needed a new mouse anyway and this game inspired the choice of G502.

So my setup, I have the primary and secondary as light and heavy attacks, as standard, then I have the thumb buttons (4/5) as block and dodge.

I use the "snipe" button (dpi) as the g-shift, in Logitech hub.

I then have mapped different keys to those g shift buttons. (I've mapped the primary and secondary mouse button to < and > on my keyboard with G shift in Logitech hub).

Holding g shift I get aim and shoot, as standard in any FPS game

The 2 buttons that are left of the primary mouse button, I have mapped to CTRL and ALT in L hub.

I then have one of those as heal. G shift and it becomes change ammo, because I use G shift for Aiming and shooting the bow.

On the keyboard I have WASD, space for jump, shift for sprint as normal. Then 1234 for stances.

R is still change quick fire item, and F is still use quick fire item. That's pretty much all I have on keyboard now.

TL;DR

Right mouse - heavy attack
Left mouse - light attack
Mouse 4 - dodge
Mouse 5 - block
Mouse 6 (G8) - heal
G-shift right mouse - aim
G-Shift left mouse - shoot
G-shift Mouse 6 (G8) - change ammo

Edit... Added more detail to how it works for me and rearranged a little.

I'm more of a MKB user but in this game the PS5 DualSense is working pretty well for me with combat - pulling off combos etc.
I'm also using the steam input mapping for gyro to do a fairly adequate job of aiming the bow, too. It's not as snappy as mouse but it's just more convenient than having to switch to mouse at inopportune moments.

It can be mapped in mouse and keyboard, but needs plenty of knowledge about the game mechanics and plenty of configuring because right of the bat you don't know what are you going to use more.

I have remapped the controls as follows:

Light Attack - Left mouse button
Strong Attack - middle mouse button
Bow / bombs / aiming - right mouse button
Block - Left Control
Dodge - Left Shift ----- should have used "space" insted
Kunais / bomb / Fast thowables ---- G

I've set mine up similar to yours now. Except for the gshift thing. Not sure what that is. I have my sniper button set up as Lctrl. Maybe thats a ghub feature I dont have as I'm still using LGS. I'm getting more used to it now though.

Imo using a DS4 (or DS5) really is the proper way to play. I have a DS4 community layout that has alternate controls that play kinda like souls games (R1/R2 for attacks)

Then you can use the touchpad to swipe and sheathe the katana, swipe up for guiding wind, etc.

any controller, but the dualshock is probably preferable because GoT is one of the only games which actually takes advantage of the touch pad:samuraislash:
IMO, if u have been using KBM for most of your games use it for this one too, u can switch stances straight away and hotkey your ghost weapons, so u pretty much never need to pull up your stance and ghost weapon wheels, just making the game look cleaner and more precise

G shift is kinda like a keyboard shift. When you hold it down, you can have alternative mappings set to your mouse buttons. Like a second function for each.

So in G hub, I changed the physical snipe button to be g shift. So when I hold that down, I have a secondary function on all the mouse buttons.

For example mouse 1 and mouse 2, I have setup in G hub with g-shift, to 2 keys < and >. So I can then map < and > to aim and shoot in the game settings. So holding the G shift button down, I can use the bow and if I'm not holding it, it's light and heavy attack, all on the same 2 mouse buttons.

It actually works really well IMHO

I always use keyboard and mouse on PC, but in this game I felt very comfortable for first time in my life using controller. The worst think is the aiming with bow because even when you try to adjust it, the aim goes down and recover his initial position

Have you got aim assist turned on? I found it did that with aim assist turned on.
