I think you did this to yourself thinking video games will give you that.
that was really my expression back in the day when the game was being presented for the first time
The combat is very fun but it lacks depth to some point and isn´t really challenging even in the higher diffs unless you intentionally handicap yourself and just ignore 90% of the toolkit and upgrades. And despite the different enemies they are mostly samey to fight so fights lack variety.
The following foxes and writing haiku´s ..well there´s just so many of them I started ignoring them halfway through the game as just the mechanical aspects of doing them becomes old fast.
Though some of the haiku´s are really pretty they should have used that mechanic more sparsely and connect to more emotional plot-beats than scattered all over the place.
Main issue is the characters are a bit bland,
Which is a problem with many western games these days.
most of them their moments though. A couple I really liked.
But all that said I enjoyed the setting and the basic combat I like a lot so it´s a good experience for me even if it´s not perfect. Bought it twice and no regrets but I can see why someone expecting something else may be disappointed.
Would pre-order sequel instantly, I mean I would pre-order any sucker punch action/rpg.
They have yet to suffer the "death by success" as many of my old fav studios have.
(edit, as people have pointed out, maybe lower expectations on games. I think over hyping ones of expectations is one of the biggest obstacles to enjoying any media, looking for stuff that isn´t there instead of enjoying what is. I´ve been guilty of this myself at least)
Back in the PS2 era, games would lose a mark for being "shot', under 10 hrs generally.
So when open world became more popular, they follow same format as GTA, slowly opening map but then copy and paste missions and tasks.
The consequences of devs feeling pressured to make "long games" and value for money.
Go play Mafia 1 and 2 and Sekiro. Rare games that don't waste your time with pointless side-quests. Every mission moves story forward and completion.
Same, novelty eventually wears off. I've stopped doing them as well, now wanting to complete story. Beautiful stunning looking game, but yeah, burnout has reached at ACT 2. I have been doing side quests as stories seem interesting enough, but yeah, no longer checking out what question marks have.
i have massive respect to anyone who does that in open world games. In all my gaming life, never 100% an open world game. Fatigue eventually hits and just complete story.
it is not that at all :D
I actually suffer from OCD. Taking meds for OCD. But I hardly remember times I needed to collect everything :D
I recommend you try the 2nd Horizon game since you will like that one much more than this one. It's still an Ubisoft open world game but all the gameplay systems are done much better than here.
Also, while the graphics in this one aren't much better than the PS5 upgrade, Horizon II PC graphics put the PS5 to shame.
I would only continue if you really like the Samurai theme and story and thought Shogun was the best TV show of the year so far.
I've played this game twice before on PS, so this is my forth time through. Though first two weren't on lethal.
And I'm still not bored. Can't wait for tomorrow to come and play some more.
You being bored is more of a you thing, not a game thing. The combat is like absolutely top notch. Feints, backing out of attacks to counter, perfect parry. There's an incredible ammount of depth to the fighting mechanics. Maybe try on lethal? Imho hard is like ... "hard for 12 year olds, maybe". But lethal is a bit frustrating, ngl.

H:FW tho, I'm still gonna wait on that one until a discount and someone remakes that mod for the sequel
More of a sandbox like experience and a combat system with more depth, that relies on mastering different sword techniques could have helped making the game outstanding.
The stealth gameplay makes the game way too easy, if you are looking for more of a challenge, try to avoid this type of gameplay!
I know you want to sound smart or something but you actually just sound like a 67 year old politician with a Christian background. Game's can give you tremendous "spiritual" experiences, although I would use another word for it. (But to be fair "spiritual" comes easily to mind when looking at the trailers for this game.)
