Ronin when fully upgraded gives massive sword damage and is great for stealth by heavily reducing detection. Even better if you got some stealth detection related charms. Unless you are having issues taking damage, suck at swapping stances, and forget to use ghost weapons it is easily among the best for a very long time even late into the game. Arguably, the stagger armor later on might be better by sheer force of plowing through everything if not stealthing at all, but otherwise this remains among the best until the end of the game. Ghost is really strong, too, but terrify can actually cause issues later when stealthing and it is arguably more of a combatant armor than anything despite its stealth bonus.
Obviously, if you aren't good at dodging/parry this might only be good for you when stealthing then.
Archery Master's Attire, or Ishikawa's if you can't get the latter, make bows go from very powerful to this clearly isn't balanced anymore as you get the half bow upgraded, unlock the long bow, and get some arrow types. You can easily max out both bows on the first island and one, if not two armors, so even though Ishikawa's is a bit weaker it is still very powerful. There are some pretty insane archery related charms later, too, and environmental effects like bee hives = an instant kill even on Legion commanders (throw fire crackers to lure them to them then set it off). Fire arrows can spam stagger enemies, too. Plenty of other tactics as well. Overall, ranged weapons are really powerful in this game.
There is also a armor that lets you dress up as the enemy Legion commander and as long as you are walking you are basically camouflaged as one of them.
