You can change your gear, charms and the difficulty whenever you want, including cutscenes. Doing the whole story all over again is really just... stupid.
not if the tracking got u while your dodge failed, not if there is an unblockable attack or 2 in their 4x combo, not if your attacks barely stagger them and actually hurt them. And u can't learn much if u are just continously press a for retry and watch yourself die 3 seconds later. rince and repeat. i thought i had kaede with a nice Full Puncture and Heavenly Strike, which didn't trigger cause she wasn't staggered and took about 1/6 heath dmg. of course i died while in step back animation and her charge. WAIT WHAT
Kaede is hard because you lack experience in duels and don't have much upgrades, she'd be one of the hardest duels.
Walk backwards, keep your distance till she goes for that first normal strike, and perfect parry. Don't use heavy strikes, they are too slow and she'll block them, only light attacks after a parry or dodge.
Walk backwards when she puts her sword away, she'll do that unblockable- it's easy to dodge if you have some space between you, but if you're too close, it's almost impossible, but it is punishable with a charged stab but that strat isn't consistent.
Play full defense and memorize her combos and patterns. I died plenty on her, but after I've gotten much much better since then, and only take a couple tries to beat duels.
Imo the fights are hard, but possible once you start mastering the parry timings and definitely not as hard as Sekiro.
Also it makes sense that on lethal difficulty a samurai kicking you, a fully armored samurai, with his foot, should kill you in one hit from full life. Its hard to see but they actually have tiny katanas strapped to their feet.
Same with the shield bash, it should do 300+ damage to a fully armored samurai because its actually a round katana.
