Duel Fights on Lethal difficulty need a Tweak !
This is ridicoulus. The shear ammount of unblockables, combos and the timings u can barely learn cause a single hit kills u is outright painfull. Sword Saint Isshin is a joke against this. So u pit in an outright great Difficulty Level and forgot to tweak Duels ?! Nor can i change DIfficulty :steamthumbsdown: :steamsalty:

You can change your gear, charms and the difficulty whenever you want, including cutscenes. Doing the whole story all over again is really just... stupid.

For most you can switch stances- some stances work better during these duels, though I recommend you use the default. The hold right click for a charged jab is actually something the CPU doesn't seem to parry if you hit them on the tip so it's a safe opener against most of the duel opponents.

Back up, let the opponent come to you-
Hold block for safety, and use your dodge out of it if it's an unblockable. Just lean their patterns, and their openings, and bate them out. They're pretty straight forward, the hardest ones are honestly at the very start but once you got the major melee upgrades, you have all the tools to clock them. Only took me 3 deaths to beat the duel with Ryuzo

not if the tracking got u while your dodge failed, not if there is an unblockable attack or 2 in their 4x combo, not if your attacks barely stagger them and actually hurt them. And u can't learn much if u are just continously press a for retry and watch yourself die 3 seconds later. rince and repeat. i thought i had kaede with a nice Full Puncture and Heavenly Strike, which didn't trigger cause she wasn't staggered and took about 1/6 heath dmg. of course i died while in step back animation and her charge. WAIT WHAT

Their combos are always the same, if there are 2 unblockables in their string, then just dodge twice. If it's a sweep dodge backwards later or dodge past them.

Kaede is hard because you lack experience in duels and don't have much upgrades, she'd be one of the hardest duels.

Walk backwards, keep your distance till she goes for that first normal strike, and perfect parry. Don't use heavy strikes, they are too slow and she'll block them, only light attacks after a parry or dodge.

Walk backwards when she puts her sword away, she'll do that unblockable- it's easy to dodge if you have some space between you, but if you're too close, it's almost impossible, but it is punishable with a charged stab but that strat isn't consistent.

Play full defense and memorize her combos and patterns. I died plenty on her, but after I've gotten much much better since then, and only take a couple tries to beat duels.

With the right build lethal is pretty easy since enemies arent damage sponges. Dodging is your best friend.

You can change difficulty at any time in the settings, even on lethal.
Imo the fights are hard, but possible once you start mastering the parry timings and definitely not as hard as Sekiro.

I wasn't talking about normal fights but duels being boring and dull to my own taste. Some people sure might find them fun but I find them rather boring and from my point of view they are just fight with waves of unblockable attacks and sometimes here and there attacks that you can parry. Also on M&K it's rather hard to land stab attack "Stone stance heavy" because there is wierd target lock system which sucks on wasd.

He is complaining that in "Duels" enemies are sponges that take several hits meanwhile he gets killed in one hit.

skill issue. ssi is definitely harder then any fight in this game
SSI shouldnt be the slightest issue, because u actually made it there. Sekiro doesnt scales with Gear, beside your arm, more a gadget. NioH 2 does, but won't take u anywhere without skills delivery in every weaponset and down the road to Endgame. I like the inbetween of Thushima Lethal and yes, my own fault i got so roadblocked by my own stupidity. Guess it's settled then :medkit: Get into Cauldron Endgame of Nioh 2 and beat Ancient Niotengu, Ren Hayabusa and Otekamaru. It took me 1000 hours to get even close to that. I still won't beat em...

It's perfectly balanced. Just like Nioh, the boss characters should have around 10,000 HP and you should have 5 HP. It forces you to get good and is canonically sound. These are great warriors you are fighting, and you are just a lowly scrub, so it makes sense your katana should do less damage than theirs.

Also it makes sense that on lethal difficulty a samurai kicking you, a fully armored samurai, with his foot, should kill you in one hit from full life. Its hard to see but they actually have tiny katanas strapped to their feet.

Same with the shield bash, it should do 300+ damage to a fully armored samurai because its actually a round katana.

Stances are way to convoluted and a very gamy system. This should be scrapped completely in a second installment. I'm all for "use x for y" but this is to much and just feels very clunky and slow. It breaks all fluidity of combat flow and ultimately feels and is a gimmick, a system that only exists to serve itself.

its typically a skill issue tbh but i think the major problem in duels is the camera being constrained by the invisible wall (why does this even occur.....), kb+m controls make some moves very difficult to aim which is very important because the duels require precision and timing, and some arenas are much smaller than you think
Typical braindead response justifying bad game design.
