Game has memory leak
After a few hours the game will start to randomly hitch up with little freezes & if you don't shut the game down it will hard lock my PC up.

That doesn't mean its a memory leak. Did you actually even check the memory usage. And its probably some app you have running in the background doing it.

Don't know why you are being like this. There are people having issues with the game, if it isn't a memory leak okay great, but there is something wrong.

Ever since I unlocked Act 2 and the bigger island above the starter one, the games performance has been utterly terrible no matter what settings I change. Doesn't get bad hours later, it is bad all the time.

Even dropped the game down to 1080p and it doesn't matter, still runs terribly. Low frame rate and stuttering. Tried different drivers, all kinds of different settings. Nothing changes.

I'm "being like this" because regardless of issues, ignorantly throwing around specific terms is misleading. I'm not saying you don't have issues. I'm sure you do.
I have none and it's because I am meticulous and relentless, not because I went on steam and spouted jargon I don't understand.

what he describes is exactly what a memory leak looks like. it might not be but the the idea that you can just dismiss it out of hand and blame it on some mysterious background process is ridiculous, especially when people have been talking about it here for days.

It's not a memory leak. At least not on my system. It tops out at 10.5gb/12gb VRAM and system memory doesn't go past 22gb/32gb. I'm pretty sure some of the settings in the game are borked as disabled certain ones resolves some of the issues (turning off dynamic resolution scaling gets rid of artifcating and some crashes).

Whatever it is they really need to put out a patch. Almost a week after launch and a ton of people are having crashes still. This is the only game that I've played in the past year that has caused this many issues for me... Sad because it's a great game aside from this.

Extremely easy to verify. and I doubt very seriously it is. If fits not eating up system ram it is no memory leak. Symptoms do not make it one. SO keep your comments to yourself.

Keep in mind it's Steam forums. Probably more than half of the commenters are 18 years or younger.

Then walk the person through how to verify it. Being a pompous prick doesn't help anyone. 🙏

I'm over 50 and a former control systems tech for Nissan north america.

It's your software environment, bad hardware, or cooling, maybe all of them, who knows.

Seriously..your the azz actually I said "That doesn't mean its a memory leak. " Are you saying thats pompous. Obviously anybody knows that bringing up task manager shows memory usage. There are no steps.

I had something of the same problem. Hitching then crashing. Even froze up too. Turns out it was the AMD Frame Generation. Trying turning that off if it's on and see what happens.
