Sudden FPS drop?

When I start playing the game it's going on constant around 60 FPS. Sometimes, even without changing graphic settings suddenly FPS drops to around 30/40 and stuck at this point. Only way to fix this is to restart whole game.

I don't know what could cause this and also I'm not sure if this happens only when I alt-tab out of the game, but could be only during this.

Anyone have the same problem?

AMD Ryzen 3600
RTX 3060 Ti (8GB)
24GB RAM

Many people have been having this issue since launch, happens about an hour in right? There's a lot of supposed fixes, but no 100% fix, a big one is apparently having malwarebytes or other anti virus running at the same time as the game.

Same. The game runs perfectly at almost max settings on my system, locked in 85fps for my settings. The second I alt-tab, accidentally click out of the window (I have three monitors) or accidentally alt-shift my IME language change, the game suddenly runs like it's Cyberpunk 2077 on release day. This, and the audio bug have been driving me nuts.

it is game problem - not personal. I play 100+ fps for 2 hours. then suddenly it feels like 30 and it won't dissappear untill restart...

For me, it is exclusively alt-tabbing or leaving the game window in any form. Even some system popups have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ my FPS. It'll persist until restart. I can play for several hours (without tabbing) and it will be completely fine.

Same problem, but it sounds like you all were lucky because i dropped down to 1 fps. Researched and messed with various in game and out of game settings for a few hours and nothing worked. Literally unplayable and had to refund the game. Still waiting for a patch to fix this.

My frame rate tanked once I unlocked Act 2 and the main island above the one you start on. Apparently other people have this issue and it is totally unrelated to hardware. I have tried so many different settings, even dropped it all the way down to 1080p and it still runs like trash. This was after 30 hours of flawless performance on the beginning island. So sad, I was really enjoying the game.

Turn the texture quality down from Very High to High, this fixed the issue for me completely.

mine happens when alt tabbing out of the game. Go back in and loose about 30fps. Goes from 90 to around 30-40 at worst.

@AdamNZ this just makes it faster, but the frames will drop eventually
