AGE OF CONAN UNCHAINED - ANYONE ABLE TO LAUNCH?
I have reports that Age of Conan Unchained can work on Steam Deck, and Linux.

I am trying to personally REPLICATE it on my systems.

The actual formatting / syntax for Launch Options, within the Compatibility section on STEAM / PROTON , is blurry.
I am looking for clear examples of how you add Launch Options, and add multiple ones, and related , NEEDED info to make Proton work properly, often, but, not always.

Here are the 2 reports, using PROTON, built into Steam for Linux, that I can find, that claim Age of Conan Unchained runs. I need help figuring this out, please. If you have experience using Proton successfully, please let me know how you learned, and where at.

AGE OF CONAN UNCHAINED -

Report 1:

Proton Experimental

Distro:
Fedora Linux 37 (Workstation Edition)
Kernel:6.1.9-200.fc37.x86_64

RAM:16 GB

GPU: Driver:4.6 Mesa 22.3.4
GPU: Intel Mesa Intel UHD 620 (WHL GT2)

CPU:Intel Core i5-8265U @ 1.60GHz

Tinker Steps:

Switch to Proton Experimental, Protontricks

d3dx9_43 d3dcompiler_43

DirectX10 has stability issues due to unimplemented shader precompilation, but DX9 is perfectly stable.

PERSON/REPORT 2:

STEAM DECK USER (STILL MIGHT BE USEFUL FOR LINUX??)

Tinker Steps:
Switch to older version: 6.3-8, Protontricks

d3dcompiler_43, d3dx10_43, d3dx9_43, in launcher enable ditectx 10 and fullscreen

Control Layout:
Switch To Community Layout: PC Masters Steam Controller

Difficult To Read Text:Yes

--------------
Those were the examples. I tried many things, using that info. Both fail.

Using Proton Experimental, I get a GUI error message, and game does not even load.

Using Proton 6.3-8, I get invisible launch of the game, and nothing happens.

Again, if I could find somewhere on Steam where it shows how to use Proton, please show me where to go see that. I cannot find it.

Thank you for the help!

Do you happen to know...
Do I need to install Protontricks from within Steam for Linux? Manually install into my PC aside from Steam?

I see many people saying I need PROTONTRICKS, but, I have no idea where I need to go to get it installed.
Proton Experimental, and older / other versions of Proton auto install when I switch versions.

Yes, I agree. No Flatpak for me, ever. Thank you for the help!

So, using just Proton, it looks like some things are not working, and often I need to either:

1. Manually add Protontricks
2. Manually add Proton GE
3. Manually add both

Both are not available from Steam, yet, Steam Play / Proton need them, to work right, for many games I am seeing, lately.

Just wondering, ..

Do you know why they are not offered on Steam, directly?
ProtonDB is the main site for what games work, and how to get them to work on Steam for Linux, right?
Is there not a Steam direct area for that? Maybe for Steam Deck only, and not Steam for Linux?

I have noticed that some versions of Linux have some software in the main Repo, but, sometimes 1 part is not fully updated, or, the whole thing is an older version. This causes drama / chaos, b/c it is supposed to be the right way to add / install on Linux, but, for example, if you get Steam for Linux in your local distro Repo, it might be an older version, (happen to me on last distro), of which then needs to update, and sometimes does not do so, completely, and/or , properly.

I fixed that by going straight to Steams website, and getting the latest version of Steam for Linux.
Issue is, now, it seems like I need to MANUALLY install at least 2 other software packages, being Protontricks, and 1 of the ProtonGE versions, to get some games to work on Steam for Linux, while also using Proton Experimental / Proton 8 / 7 / 6.

I just want to make sure I am doing all this the right way.
