Linux xpad Xbox 360 controller support for Games
I’ve been testing Steam Linux experience with the Xbox 360 controller. I have removed xboxdrv and just using Ubuntu 18.04 kernel's xpad module. For most cases, it works really well. Steam Big Picture mode picks it up. Games like FEZ, Binding of Issac, GoNNER, Braid, Hitman GO pick up the Xbox controller flawlessly.

This leaves me to question why does it not work for other games. Is this the case for everyone? Or is it just me? My hardware is Dell XPS 13 (9370) 2018.

For me I don’t get the “out of the box experience” for other controller supported games:
Super Meat Boy, Broforce.
And no success with proton only games: Cuphead, Nigghog, BloodRayne: Betrayal.

Of course, I can achieve controller support via Valves Steam Big Picture key remapping to keyboard keys bindings. But out of curiosity is this the case for other people with xpad controller module. Any good solutions?

Weird. Cuphead GOG version through Wine worked for me. I can't speak on the other ones you're having issues with, but maybe there's a connecting factor?

I Found a solution. I went into Settings > Controller Settings and Unticked Xbox Configuration support and Generic Gamepad configuration support. My Xbox 360 controller (Using Linux Xpad drivers only) started working on all games that support a controller as normal. I don't know why I was having the above problem. Perhaps its a bug on Linux Steam.
