Steam for Linux

Steam fails to launch on Linux (KDE Neon)
I installed Steam (for maybe 100th time) by using this command: sudo apt install steam.
Here's what I get by running LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose steam, as was suggested in a similar thread:
Running Steam on neon 20.04 64-bit
STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically

Looks like steam didn't shutdown cleanly, scheduling immediate update check

P.S. I also tried installing Steam through "Discover" and it works fine except when I'm trying to import files to Blender, it doesn't see folders like "Downloads" that are normally there when I browse files through Dolphin. It sees "Pictures" and I could just drop everything there, it sees folders and files there but it's very annoying, I'd not want to use a workaround like this. Also when I rename or create new folders in Dolphin, these changes don't appear in Steam, and when I create new folders through steam, they don't appear in Dolphin.

Looks like a GPU driver problem. What distribution, what GPU (s), what driver version is it?

Sorry, I installed Kubuntu and it works perfectly fine

I installed linux mint recently and am facing the same problem. Can't figure out for the life of me how to fix it. mine isn't even opening

try to run
apt reinstall nvidia-XXX
where XXX

it might help fix any eventually missing 32-bit opengl or vulkan components from the Nvidia driver... on Ubuntu 20.04 I'm sure this kind of missing component happens, on Mint I've never seen reports but it's harmless anyway

Oh yes, Kubuntu and some other distros actually had that message while installing steam saying you need 32-bit components
