Steam on Xubuntu 12.10

Hello every one...

1. Where can I download the latest Steam for Linux?

2. I had steam installed, but it did update in the last couple of days and now it's not starting and says: "no Internet connection" which is not true. Any idea, how can I get the latest Steam with a .deb?

2. Did you try "Retry Connection"?

for the record: I had no trouble installing Steam client on Ubuntu/XFCE 12.10

Found the issue. Simple my main drive got filled up and actually the update didn't even complete. The new Xubi is simply to large for my 4GB. Removed it now and went back to crunchbag. Gonna test steam again.
