Microsoft SideWinder mouse

Hello,

I am using a Microsoft SideWinder mouse with 5 mouse buttons, plus DPI control.
For the most part this works ok, and i'm some of the Steam games it works ok.. but i have noticed it seems to have issues on certain games (Bastion menus, Aquaria) where Ubuntu seems to think its part game pad. which causes lots of issues... Aquaria i cant even set things in the menu, as soon as i change resolution my mouse pointer gets stuck on the 'no' button and keeps snapping back to it when i try to move it.

i used the joystick app thats available on the software center once, and it showed my mouse as having somethign silly like 37 axis and 60 buttons... does anyone know how to get a Microsoft SideWinder mouse configured and working correctly for gaming on Linux?

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 Unity flavor.

I can confirm this issue. Had the same problem. Sadly I couldn't figure out how to fix it aswell :/ So I was quite happy as my mouse broke.
