Steam for Linux

Just fyi, i got the tux even though TF2 wont successfully launch on ubuntu(12.10). Check a bp viewer.
A few times i got the unavailiable message, a few times i just got no feedback that tf2 was running outside my steam name turining green.

So if youre looking for the tux its worth checking tf2b.com or another bp site to see if its dropped for you even if you cant properly launch tf2.

Also, i tried to launch tf2 using a low intensity idle config, maybe that helps. I just add
-textmode -nosound -noipx -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw +sv_lan 0 +maxplayers 2 +sv_password what +map "Itemtest"
to the launch options.

Sadly this marks the 3rd time ive tried to install linux, as id like a dual boot, and ive just been plagued with issues. ;(

Definitely check out Atheisto's topic if you havent already.

Thanks to the board collectively as ive been skimmiing it for some time to get my stuff running.

What were your issues? Perhaps we can help.

FYI no need to use an external backpack viewer. When logged into the Steam website just click on your messages in the top right corner (looks like an open envelope) and select 'XX new items in your inventory' then make sure you are looking at the TF2 tab.
