Crash on start-up on Arch Linux (64-bit) with KDE

I installed Steam via the Arch User Repository, and also lib32-libappindicator. I have KDE. When I start Steam, I get a crash, so I ran via console and here's the output (it's a segfault):

Anybody got any fixes? (I doubt it.) I'm not the only one getting this, at least two others have reported this on the AUR.

No. The AUR package was last updated a week ago according to the site.

I'm running Arch 64 with KDE as well. I reinstalled Steam from the AUR about an hour ago, because I had an alert saying the package was out of date.
It's working fine here, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the package in AUR.
Seg faults can be tricky to figure out, probably a missing dependency, or more likely an out of date dependency, have you tried an upgrade with pacman -Syu ? (or whatever manager you're using)

Valve officially support Ubuntu only for now, but community managed to hack the package to make it work with others distros, including Arch. There's no reason it would work only for one distro since they all use the same kernel :p

Well, from what I can see so far, it seems to be a problem with the graphics drivers (catalyst). But I'm still not sure.

I ran into the same issue.

Solved it by uninstalling Steam and then reinstalling it from the AUR.

Running CS1.6 on Arch x64 & KDE fine here. Got nvidia though.

Okay, I basically fixed all this by completely reinstalling Arch. But when I installed xorg-server, I held back to version 1.12 (per Arch Linux wiki's instructions), because AMD Catalyst doesn't support 1.13 (the latest) yet. Steam and Half-Life now run beautifully.

Never had any issues with Steam on Arch. With NVIDIA graphics.
I think the segfaults are often driver related.

Having similar problem, Also Arch AMD64, KDE but with NVIDIA drivers (GTX 460). Steam fails to start, output when run in terminal is:

Have you installed "lib32-nvidia-libgl" and "lib32-nvidia-utils", too? Valve is 32 bit software so it won't run on the 64 bit driver. pacman puts out a message when installing steam reminding you to install the corresponding 32 bit driver.
