Counter Strike Available!
Hm, I wonder what this is: http://i.imgur.com/BuLFz7E.jpg

(Not wine, I promise I'm not that mean)

So far I can't connect to any servers (assets don't match). Anyone want to host a server and I'll try to connect?

Steam -> All Games -> Counter Strike -> Properties -> Beta -> SteamPipe Beta -> Install

then:

cd ~/Steam/SteamApp/common/Counter-Strike; LD_LIBRARY_PATH:"$LD_LIBRARY_PATH":. ./hl_linux -game cstrike;

I can't seem to connect to any protected servers ("You have been disconnected from the server. Reason: Bad file. Server is enforcing file consistency for sprites/fast_wallpuff1.spr" or map bsp errors). Anyone want to get a server running in linux and post here and we can see if we can get a game going?

Inferno also seems to work. Maybe there's a server update that's not all out yet.

Hey guys, something is wrong here. I joined the steampipe beta, installed cs, and tried cd'ing to cs folder, only to find out that there is no hl_linux in that folder... this file is, however, in half-life folder (~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Half-Life), but if I try executing "LD_LIBRARY_PATH:"$LD_LIBRARY_PATH":. ./hl_linux -game cstrike" in this folder, it launches Half-Life instead of cs... besides, no output on terminal helps me determine what's wrong. any clues?

I can't seem to join any servers. I get a map mismatch error for any server/map I try.

Same here, the client doesn't seem to be sending a download request for the maps.

Refresh/check cache of the game and it works.

Same here. I can launch from Steam now but I still get mismatching maps (fixed by removing maps folder from cstrike) but the sprite issue won't go away, even when copying a good one over from my Windows install....

The same problem ...

So far that has solved this problem copying files from folder "Half-Life" in the folder "Counter-Strike". What was the problem so really did not understand, but that I still do not care, the main work =)))

PS
Sorry for my english, translate through Google translator =)

It look like SteamPipe sharing (Engine files from HL folder) not working properly...

This is not the correct way to do it. They moved all of the "Counter-Strike" content into the "Half-Life" folder. If you keep doing this, you'll have to copy files after every game update.
For CS to work correctly in Steam, this is what you need to do:

1) Close Steam
2) Go to your SteamApps folder, and delete appmanifest_10.acf
3) Reopen Steam
4) Reinstall CS, it will now install correctly into the Half-Life folder and you will be able to launch it through Steam

You can then remove your "Counter-Strike" folder, it is no longer used.

Hello,

I also have Steam beta but I have in my Steam Games Counterstrike 1.6 not only Team Fortress 2 and Serious Sam 3: BFE

How can I test the beta of Counter Strike 1.6?

This is because you don't have CS 1.6. You need to buy CS 1.6 in Steam (or activate retail disk) in order to play on Linux

Running this on Mint 32bit with AMD HD6700 on 12.11, I believe. Fullscreen is just a nice bright green screen but setting -windowed in launch options works. After a while of getting my old config back, everything is just freakin' dandy.
