libc.so.6 assistance needed!

NOTE: I am new to both discussion threads such as these and linux to the point where I should feel mocked and shamed

Apart from that I attempt to run steam but when I do I need to download these packages

libgl1-mesa-dri:i386
libgl1-mesa-glx:i386
libc6:i386

Press Enter to continue

A message also pops up saying:
You are missing the follwoing 32-bit libraries, and Steam may not run: libc.so.6

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello, welcome to the forums. Let's begin with a little more information:

What distro are you using?
What hardware?

I am using Ubuntu (sorry for not putting that into the original post)
And ironically the Samsung Chromebook (ARM processor)

Open the Terminal, paste "uname -a" (without quotes) and paste the results here.

I've never seen this before, never delt with ARM processors hehehe. Wait untill some more experienced user answers.

In the mean time, you might want too check what type of system you have, 32 or 64bit, and in case of this last one, try to install "ia32-libs", with

sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

From the information I've gathered, it is a 32 bit laptop

I also attempted to enter:

sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

but resulted in

E: unable to locate package ia32-libs

I'm afraid you're out of luck, Steam only supports x86 CPUs so it won't run on your ARM laptop.

Even if Valve did do an ARM version of Steam you'd still need all the game developers to make ARM versions of their games.

Yeah but running games on steam let alone steam itself with an ARM processor is garunteed to be hopeless :(

ARM processors are nowadays mostly focused on power saving and few processors bring gpu capable enough for running any kind of modern game. For gaming right now, intel or amd, sorry.

It actually runs fairly well. I mean it's not supberb but I never see any lag whatsoever when I'm using it

I know this is a late post, but I got this same missing lib message running the latest ubuntu under a VM. So for anyone else in the same situation:
Running "sudo apt-get install ia32-libs" resolved my problem.
