EDIT: a TV - I meant a bigger screen in general
and I think that your question is valid, the line between web / mobile / desktop is slowly disappearing
I think a lot of the big developers - including Valve - realize this and that's why Valve is trying to preserve the high-end development space with SteamOS + Linux, while Apple and Microsoft are off pushing/chasing mobile devices.
Half-Life in 4K or VR is not going to happen on mobiles any time soon. There needs to be a space for that to happen. There already is a space for that to happen! Mobiles can't do it. Consoles can't do it either.
Remember, the original Half-Life released while most everyone else was playing PS1 and N64. It took a next-gen console, three years, and a lot of scraping to finally squeeze it onto the PS2. Half-Life 3 shouldn't be any different. It won't arbitrarily be made a PC exclusive. It probably just won't run on anything else.
They don't need to be ported to PCs, there are options to play them in bigger screens using a controller, like OUYA and MOJO from Mad Catz.
You don't need to buy more devices to play Android games on the television.
1. Genymotion
2. AndroVM
3. or use kvm to install the android .iso
Also, I'd check out the newest Android HD games. In most cases they look like regular console games.
The performance of Android emulators is awful, specially for gaming.
To me Android games are not even close to consoles, in terms of graphical quality. Not that I care about graphics, most of my games are old or indie.
Relatively speaking considering the power of a mobile.... the graphics are outstanding.... and as these devices get more powerful they will become more and more stunning. Now, lets just think outside the box, if they developed games for a PC which wil have better hardware.... these Android games will be on par or better in some respect to many of the games out now.
Android developers are definitely trying to get these devices into the living rooms and bedrooms for play --so, the emulators will get better and if I had to guess they will add controller support which is the only thing holding them back in my opinion (like a real controller).
Look at the following link and you tell me if these games don't look like they could be on a console and hold there own:

Here are two other links that show at minimum they could have been last generation console worthy.... or a Wii U game LoL:

Mind you, these games shown are just the free games.. the paid ones are just or more impressive.
With added power to push the game combined with quicker development times I would put a big wager into that once this platform of games can figure out how to develop an official emulator you can load into PLEX/XBMC, Roku3 or PC.... it'll be a game changer.... maybe even challenge Nintendo at the 3rd spot in the console dominance war.
You can run Android SDK to run the games... the games run fine from there; however the issue is they were intended for touch screen play vice gaming controller.
Most interesting thing, and I did not know this until you posted negativity about the possibilities... so I started more research and found the NVIDIA Shield had come far enough that I think Android may already be there but many have not caught on just yet.
When NVIDIA Shield becomes a set top box with the capabilites of the Roku3 ... then we shall revisit this because the capability is there. I would not be suprised if they are not already working on making it a full entertainment suite. Turns out you can already hook it to a big screen and their are some pretty big titles available that I did not know you could play on Android (ie through streaming from PC but I am not sure why you want to do this when you can play from directly from the PC to the TV)... That being said, Brother, it's coming... I'd be willing to bet NVIDIA is about to jump in with both feet... and if they can get exclusive titles through someone like Sega (just a thought) --we'll be witnessing a new entry into consoles.

I bet there are a few android games worth playing but forget that... you'll be playing Nintendo games on a mobile console. Plus, I am willing to bet you may be able to play the Nvidia GO network of games and maybe even a few games selected for play thru stream.... could mean some PC/crossplatform possibilities.
I should get some props with the foreshadowing... I was close with the Nvidia thing and the Shield.
